If the connections of UK jumper Constitution Hill really think they can win the Melb Cup what does that say about the quality of 2 mile stayers not just here but in Europe.

He ran to a pretty high rating on his flat debut.

He's not entitled to a handicap mark after one start but those he beat indicate his mark will be in the low 100 which is equivalent of listed group 3 level.

Be interesting to watch it unfold.

I hope he gets a run. Probably too old to win as he will at least 9 (not sure what time of year he is born) but he has been one of the best jumpers of the 21st century. Goodies Two Shoes almost won being far inferior (although she also had a fair bit of flat experience and was younger)

Suddenly reminds me of a deceased old friend by the name of Michael who just loved the 3-day Warrnambool carnival and whose horses had a fair degree success over the obstacles down there.  However after 15 years or more he was more than eager, even committed, to win a flat race over the carnival.

So the trainer finally set up one to do just that and bugger me the race well in hand before, wait for it, it slipped and fell half way down the straight.

Initially felt very sorry for the bloke, however after a totally scary into the wind 2 hour return flight with a three quarters cut Mick aboard a 12-seater was just happy to return in one piece.

My early thinking that apulia may not be the worst chance at 51/1 certainly took a hit this weekend when bitdman put 8 on him

Interesting to see Paradise Storm is by Masked Marvel, a stallion who Lloyd Williams raced for a few years here in Australia.

He’s now become one of the hottest National Hunt stallions in Europe, standing in France for EUR 12,500 (= circa $21,000 AUD).

I thought it was a mightily impressive win.

Be interesting to see what the handicapper does with him, Only an 85 rater here but that should get him up to the high 90s. 2 miles he looks so strong.

Constitution Hill entered to run at Kempton over 12f. next wednesday.  I think Ryan Moore will be the jock.

Don't believe we'll have an automatic entry coming down from the USA this year.  Embarrassed

Well we’ve got one of these Golden Ticket races on Saturday with the Roy Higgins Qlty at Flemington.

I like Litzdeel to get the win here. She’s a 4yo mare by Dundeel and is a half sister to Vow & Declare.

She won the 2500m SA Fillies Classic last autumn and had a low key spring culminating in the 2800m Australian Heritage Cup.

Nice effort running 2nd over 2000m last start at Flemington and I think she’s got great upside as a young stayer.

Constitution Hill wins his second flat start comfortably in a race worth a little over AUD 12,000 to the winner.  Cant believe a horse with his reputation would race for so little on the flat. What would Ryan Moore have been paid to ride it.

Saw this quote in the UK Sun newspaper a few days ago

NICKY HENDERSON has categorically ruled Constitution Hill OUT of the £5million Melbourne Cup, saying: “He won’t go there in a million years!”

My boy had his final trial yesterday, kicks off next Saturday , Caulfield 1800m BM74

Keep your eyes peeled for MUKHTALIF

CM thinks he’s shown a lot of promise as a potential Cups prospect.
