My Top 6 of the C&G in the Tassie sale, which reflects the lower numbers this year ( the smallest in a decade)

Lot

Class/Group Potential

Distance Aptitude

Synopsis

11

Moderate–High

1600–2400m

This lots lower dosage suggesting moderate–high Group potential, especially as dam dosage is optimal. The horse’s balanced and high classic (profile points to strong middle-distance ability, The balanced index supports versatility. This lot is well-suited to middle and some longer distances, with a solid Group  strike rate possible.

13

Very High

2000–3200m

With a Dosage below the optimum (desirable) dam and sire also, Lot 13 is in the optimal range for Group potential across all distances, thanks to all the lower than optimal dosages of the Lot, Sire Dam and maternal Grandsire . The profile’s high closing figure and low index signal a stayer type—suited for long-distance and classic races, likely to finish strongly in staying contests

.

48

Very High

2000–3200m

Lot 48’s , &  dam/sire dosages are all well below optimal, aligning with the highest probability for Group winners at all distances. The profile is balanced with a classic peak and the index  leans to stamina, supporting a stayer/middle-distance aptitude. This lot is ideal for classic and long-distance racing.

55

Moderate

1400–2200m

Lot 55’s dosage places it just above the moderate–high range, suggesting a preference for middle distances. The dam’s very low dosage is a strong positive for Group potential. The profile shows a pronounced peak in the classic supporting middle-distance/classic races. The index further confirms stamina leanings.

88

High

1600–2400m

This lot’s VP and dam dosage are both favorable for Group  potential (high strike rate). The profile is slightly unbalanced but with strong early and closing speed, suggesting a versatile runner. The index supports middle-distance to classic races, with the dam’s closing figure highlighting finishing ability.

101

Moderate High

 1600m (Sprint) preferably)   1200-1600

Lot 101’s dosage indicates a strong speed bias and a preference for sprint races, capable of getting further). The dam’s low dosage is highly favorable for progeny Group success, but the horse’s profile (modest across all segments) and index  confirm a  sprinter - miler, unlikely to excel beyond  1600-1800.

Group potential is questionable but possible in  sprint - mile  company.

Summary Key Points:

  • Lots 13 and 101: 9/10 – One (101) is a  high-class sprinters/miler with excellent potential for early races, and the other (13)  a premium type staying pedigree with adequate early and middle speed, with a great closing speed profile, and both showing strong ratings and suitability for competitive events.
  • Lot 11: 8/10 – Displays a good balance of class and distance aptitude, and versatile for different racing conditions, making it a solid contender.
  • Lot 48: 6/10 – Moderate class with stamina, indicating middle-distance potential but less standout than the top-rated lots.
  • Lot 55: 5/10 – Lower class rating but notable for distance aptitude, best suited for longer races.
  • Lot 88: 7/10 –Lot 88 is a solid middle-distance prospect with balanced indices and good overall potential.

These revised ratings reflect the horses’ overall suitability, potential, and the completeness of available data as indicated in the summary and pedigree analysis sections.

Take2's assessments should always be given very close consideration, and in this particular case because following his advice could well enable prospective purchasers to pick up one or two quite inexpensively.

My assessments are for the most part based on an alternate philosophy, and fwiw have Lot 11 on top among his selections.  From my perspective suspect Artorius can make the grade so Lots 8 and 103 head my list, including the fact both have top and bottom crosses of More Than Ready.

Interesting SC (and thanks Take 2 👍).

A mate of ours who is in Bush Girl had a 5% share in Artorius when he was racing.

When Artorius went to stud he sold down 2.5% (for a lot of money!) and still owns 2.5%.

Not that our mate needs the money 😀
