About the village

Thoroughbred Village is the premier online horse racing community in Australia and ranks equally with the most popular horse racing communities in all parts of the world.

As testament to our global reach, in an independent poll conducted in Kentucky USA, Thoroughbred Village was ranked as the world’s best online horse racing forum.

Thoroughbred Village is also one of the region’s oldest websites devoted solely to thoroughbred horse racing and breeding. It commenced in October 2000 and quickly became known for its quality content and friendly atmosphere. We have seen many other websites come and go over the years, however Thoroughbred Village has remained at the forefront over this time due to the loyal and passionate community, which has been a pillar of stability and solidarity for this great and noble sport.

The Thoroughbred Village website offers heaps of great content, including entertainment and valuable information to make the online horse racing experience more enjoyable, informative and profitable! However, we don’t think of ourselves simply as a website. Thoroughbred Village is an experience that stretches across all parts of our online lives, from Twitter to Facebook, and our ever-popular message forums. Thoroughbred Village is part of many people’s lives and we hope it is part of yours.

The above was posted on this site in 2021.  I suspect as many as 20 currently contributing members would have joined TBV within weeks or at most a year or two after formation of the website.

What’s the point of its existence nowadays?

It’s purely the forum and trump that keeps it going

I've found forums die out as people now have Facebook as a mass used product and other social media that can add their 2cents on as well

I wouldn't even start betting if I was a kid these days. I never buy any product where I'm being constantly beaten about the head with saturation advertising to purchase. Don't like feeling manipulated.

Well for starters it still has more hits in the Racing and Breeding forums than any other similar Australian website.  And perhaps even more importantly it's a place where many people of like interests have had the opportunity to form lengthy, even decades long personal relationships in the real world.

Though if you truly believe TBV has little point other than in the Trump thread I'd invite you to restrict your contributions to that particular forum and leave the rest of us to rejoice in our own valued company.

Unfortunately I think a number of older members who treated this place as ''home'' and have been pushed out of here have fallen through the cracks.
