Fields for first round of heats are out. Saturday night at Albion Park
Only 2 rounds of heats this year. Final on July 19 Top 3 finishes will be very valuable with just the two rounds. I do see they have a small amount of bonus points on offer for fast finishing times, which hopefully helps those with bad draws. Ultimately though it appears Leap to Fame will win the final. He has drawn inside back row for Heat 1 so would be unlikely to draw there for the final. Its probably the only draw that makes things interesting. |

First round of heats last night.
Queenslander Sure Thing Captain took out the first heat. Eye catcher was Catch a Wave who came from the tail. His last 800m would be absolutely off the charts. I'm talking perhaps fastest ever type stuff. Second heat was taken by series 2nd favourite Don Hugo. Done everything he had to and was very impressive. Captains Knock in 2nd was every bit as good after having to death seat. The third heat as expected was a one act affair with short priced series favourite Leap To Fame dominating.

The 2nd and final round of heats has some peculiar match ups. Somehow Seed 1 and 2 Leap to Fame and Don Hugo have drawn into the same heat. Not only that but Catch A Wave who behind those two would have the most Group 1 wins is in this heat also. Pinseeker who is NZs best hope and finished 2nd to Leap to Fame last night is also in this heat.
Speak the Truth and Captains Knock meet in another heat. This leaves another heat where Sure Thing Captain looks a moral, with the rest of the field being pretty average horses when talking Interdoms. Barring Max Delight but he has drawn the carpark. There is a 2 or 3 genuine state FFAers in the field, but theres also some shockers who are probably only in the series because nobody else is travelling to take on Leap to Fame on his home deck.

Great to see someone is interested in the inter doms, Guru.
I thoroughly enjoyed last nights racing. Aside from the demise of London to a Brick in the trotters heat. Cost me a lot more than Londonš°š°š° Not sure of your vintage, obviously, but where do you rate Leap to Fame. To me, he surpasses all bar the GOAT, Popular Alm

Strange race that heat of the Trotters. Once the fav went up in the air after start the other fav's sat back & did it all too late. Oscar Bonavena drive was too bad to be true.....& the second horse the run of the race & should have won easily !

The drive on Oscar was a disgrace. If it was just a regular race, youād swear blind he hooked it but it was an inters heat so surely he wouldnāt

The earliest I can remember is the Our Sir Vancelot, Christian Cullen, Tailamade Lombo, Courage Under Fire, Shakamaker era.
That said I watched Vin Knight and Popular Alm videos on repeat so have a soft spot for him. In my lifetime when old enough to properly judge I have the top 4 as Im Themightyquinn, Blacks A Fake, Lazarus and now Leap To Fame. We didnt see enough of Lazarus. Blacks a Fake and Leap To Fame similar styles of racing but LTF has more margin on his opposition than Blackie did. Leap will likely retire before he can match BAF Inters records, but probably have to give the points to Leap unfortunately as have soft spot for Blackie My undispited favourite is Quinny though. Dont think many others will have him ahead of Leap. He certainly isnt as tough. But Quinny had sheer speed. Results didnt have the consistency, but put him in all times great race and there is bound to be a speed battle on early that he can stay out of, and he will have the quickest final 800m and run over the top of them. Where Leap also falls down in the conversation as greatest ever is popularity of the sport. Tens of thousands witnessed Popular Alm, Paleface Adios, Preux Chevalier, Village Kid etc. Even thousands witnessed Blackie and Quinny. Only a handful have watched Leap.

Toughest top class horse for me was Pure Steel.
Was out at HP the night he ran third in a top class Inter Dominion Final - have a go at the run he had - they made sure he couldn't win ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Fr2A1_OpGA

Mount Edens win in the Miracle Mile wasn't too shabby either
Gave up at least 70 m at the start.....caught up....went past them like they were stuck to the running rail to win by 20 m Good field to boot ! |

Away from the Inters I thought the run of Jacks Ultimate Fury was massive. A 3yo up against 4yos (admittedly a 3yo won but it had cheap run). Has been running great times over longer distances. Could be a star of the future

Dixon, Leap To Fame to take luck out of equationGrant Dixon will take luck out of the equation as he aims to keep champion pacer Leap To Fame's unbeaten Inter Dominion record intact at Albion Park on Saturday night. Leap To Fame has won all three heats and a Grand Final across two Inter Dominions, but yet another awkward inside back row draw (gate eight) presents him arguably his biggest challenge yet. Not only is gate eight the worst place Leap To Fame could draw, but he's also following out his main danger Don Hugo, the second-best pacer in the series. Dixon has driven against Luke McCarthy for more than 20 years and knows better than most the genius of Don Hugo's trainer-driver. He won't give McCarthy the chance to "snooker" him. So, Dixon has dismissed growing speculation he would push through from the back row, sit behind Don Hugo and try to beat him in a dash home at the end of the long 2680m trip. "I don't think I can afford to do that because that would give Don Hugo and Luke too much control of the race," said Dixon. "So, I'm pretty sure I will be getting away from the markers as soon as I can and more than likely have to sit parked outside Don Hugo at least the bell. "Larry's (Leap To Fame's stable name) greatest attribute is his strength, so if we have to use that then that is how it will be." It's a powerful vote of confidence from Dixon in a race that doesn't actually mean a lot in the scheme of things because this is just a qualifying heat. The big prize is the $1 million Ladbrokes Inter Dominion final a week later. But it fits with the booming confidence Dixon exuded after Leap To Fame powered to victory after a tough run and in the fastest time of the night at last Saturday's opening round of heats. "I was thrilled with how easily he did it and how sharp he felt. He's right where we want him," he said moments after the runaway victory. Dixon is also a competitive beast and will want to build on Leap To Fame's 2-1 lead over Don Hugo, who won last year's Inter Dominion final and beat Leap To Fame in the Miracle Mile in March. McCarthy knows the draw has massively fallen his way this time, but he's still wary of Leap To Fame. "That doesn't surprise me that Grant wants to get off my back, I've been saying all week I thought he'd do that," he said. "The draw is still a big help to us. My guy has trained-on really well and will be fitter for last week's win. "It's a good track to be in front around and we'll get our chance to beat him. "Put it this way, if we can't beat him from this draw over this distance (2680m) then I don't know how we possibly can in the final over even further (3158m)." Leap To Fame is $1.60 tomorrow night despite the draw with Don Hugo at $2.60. Leap To Fame's dominance is even stronger in Grand Final betting at $1.25 with Don Hugo at $3.80. The final fields for the pacing and trotting finals will be decided tomorrow night with the crucial barrier draws on Sunday. |

Couldnāt believe the price they bet on STT. Tough all the way win. It wonāt be easy next week though. Iām on Cya Art @ $30, pre series to run a place so quite happy but like the Captain last year, the final hurdle is tough. Praying he draws wellš |

Petes Said So into his 4th ID final. Not bad for a horse who has only won the one Group 3.
While on Morris horses, Robbie drove Kanena Provlima positively and it ran a place. Yet in normal FFAs at Menangle he always wants to sit 4 fence and be the unlucky runner. Yet when driven positively its won big races like Victorian country cups. Does my head in. No surprises those bigger wins were on the odd occasions its had someone else driving instead of Robbie. He has wasted this horses career.

You raise a good point. Iāve heard other drivers say the same thing. 3 or 4 back in the fence is better than the running line. Seems bizarre
They all like to drive to a formula. Gammalite was often slaughtered by it and even Leap to Fame to a degree. They think they need to deathseat on good horses to avoid trouble but last night, given a āproper driverā LTF absolutely smashed them

I wonder if LTF has ever been 1-1 before last night.
The Menangle driving, especially 2300m drives me mad. They go Indian file and drivers will be happy to be 8th, 9th or 10th the fence. They are going to run home in 55 and you are 40m off them. Its mathematically impossible. Much easier to cover the extra 15m in the first half of the race when speed isn't as crazy than make up 30-40m late. Don't think many trots drivers got past year 10 maths though. |

Whats the bet Tims A Trooper will be out of position at start, allowing room for a horse (LTF) to slot in.
And whats the best stewards will allow it and give a measly $200 fine or similar.
