Steps out as a 4yo over the 2000m in the G3 Star Sports Brigadier Gerard Stakes @ Sandown on Thursday

By Night Of Thunder out of the Dansili mare Syndicate he went around unbeaten as a 3yo packing a nice turn of foot @ the backend of his races imo powering home on debut (1600m) @ Newmarket before stringing 3 on the bounce over the 2000m

His latest 2 in France - Listed Prix Nureyev (good) horse he put to bed by 3.5L has since run in the G2 Mooresbridge stakes 3L behind proper Group horses Los Angeles - White Birch

G3 Prix du Prince d’Orange had to overcome a genuine (soft) track in a sit n sprint affair which wasn’t ideal n allthough green still got the job done STRONG through the line

Looked BABYish last season n keen to see how much improvement this guys got after 8 months off the scene !!

Holds a nomination for the G1 Prince Of Wales so will need to put in a DECENT performance !!

Debut 1600m

2nd run 2000m

3rd run (Listed) 2000m

4th run (G3) 2000m

Very impressive!

Had to change course in the home straight but still outclassed the opposition.

At first I thought it was ok as I only watched the partial replay. Run of the race from the top of the straight. The I watched the full replay. The ride for first half of the race was horrible.

The first half of the race is a straight line by the time they got to the bend he was in the perfect position.

3 wide is hardly an issue when they are going in a straight line.

The ride on Ombudsman was far superior to the ride on the winner.

There's an extremely acute 450m turn leading into the straight at Sandown.  Just where Buick made his move and clearly worked hard doing so.  And his mount gets done a neck.

The win certainly looked good to the eye but it was a massive run by the pacemaker.

Ombudsman could become Godolphin’s first Japan Cup runner in 11 years

By The Straight News Desk

John Gosden is determined to set Godolphin star Ombudsman for both the Breeders’ Cup and the Japan Cup, avoiding the Irish Champion Stakes in the process.

The last start Juddmonte International winner will head to the Champion Stakes at Ascot on October 18 and then take in the Breeders' Cup and Japan Cup.

“He will now be freshened up for an autumn campaign targeting the Champion Stakes at Ascot, the Breeders’ Cup and the Japan Cup,” Gosden said.

“The Irish Champion Stakes is a race that our stable has won four times. Obviously, it would not be in the best interests of Ombudsman to race in September, nor would the horse appreciate running against multiple entries from one stable on a track with a short straight.”

Ombudsman is likely to be at the top of the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings when they are next released thanks to his Juddmonte performance.

Godolphin has not had a Japan Cup runner since Trading Leather in 2014, while Fantastic Light ran fourth in the race in 2000.

It takes a wise man a lifetime to grow a tree and a fool five minutes to kill one.
