For those that have never visited Widden, NSW, in the Widden Valley, this is worth a look, just to see what a beautiful place it is. They call it Gods Country, and it really is. I know its for the yearlings at the sales that are over, but it gives good shots of the farm , and towards the end a lovely shot of the famous Cats Ears of Widden. Its an amazing place, and its the oldest TB stud in the world thats been in the same family since its begining. I think Antony is the 5th generation. |

The history is amazing. Thunderbolt,,,,the local bushranger,,,used to ride down from up Urala way,,,leave his horse and take one of theirs. Go out Mudgee way,,,,,come back and change horses. A cave above Widden with stuff left by Thunderbolt. Its history is so interesting. But OMG its a beautiful place.

We went there to look at Your Song, but much preferred Nicconi as a type. They brought them out one after the other. Ended up using Excelebration. It’s hard choosing the ‘right’ stallion, as we all know.
In retrospect wish we’d gone with Nicconi.
Having said that the resulting progeny, though not fast enough, was an absolutely beautiful filly, in both looks and nature which helped when finding her a perfect home. Which made me very happy ![]() |
