The prelude of sorts is this weekend with a Manchester derby in London for the Community Shield.
For Fiddler, Man Utd also keep the League off with a Friday night visit from Fulham to Old Trafford on Saturday week (5am in the morning) our time. Interesting start for Fiddler (prior to the international break) with a trip to Brighton and a visit from Liverpool following the opening weekend. For Villa, we head to West Ham, host Arsenal and head to Leicester before the international break. The usual suspects head the betting with the bookies narrowing the title down to one of Liverpool, Man City or Arsenal all at single figure quotes, the other four members of the "sky 7", Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd and Newcastle, are all between 20-1 and 25-1 to win the title, Villa being the only other club under a 150-1 quote. I think (to state the obvious) Chelsea will be the improvers and the 20-1 about them may be worth a nibble early. Another interesting one is Man City being 1.02 on the TAB at present to finish top half, which I guess could be taken as their odds on City's court case being heard and the decision going in Citys favour this season, although at present it isn't "better than bank interest".

Should also have added that TAB aren't offering a price on Arsenal and Liverpool to finish top half, they're also offering 2000-1 about these 2 to be relegated (if you want to bet on that I'll happily take it
) while offering 16-1 about City being relegated, which again is more about the chance of off field results than on field.

You've missed the most interesting game of the weekend, Chelsea vs Manchester City, you've also missed the Tottenham vs Leicester game slated for Monday night UK time.

United will look a lot different this season with these lot incoming..
and this lot outgoing.. We'll miss Bissaka he is an amazing defender. I remember when he was signed from Crystal palace years ago, I wasn't sure he would suit the team but he has been awesome, sad to see him go as it goes, our loss, West Hams gain.

The two teams I loathe the most in the PL, I won't be missing them. Much more interesting is the Tottenham V Leicester game. Having said the reason I didn't post them is because y screen grab couldn't gather the last two matches, the image was too tall, that's why it didn't make it onto the post. |

Presumably Casemiro is still at Old Trafford because either they can't find someone willing to pay his wages or he has actually departed but his lost so much pace that he won't actually make it out the door until the January window.

Off to a decent start, should have been at least 4 nil, quite a few chances saved by Fulham keeper and Garnacho scuffed a sitter right in front in extra time. Zirkzee off the bench for his game was the scorer, how often do we see it, off the bench and score !!
United 1
Fulham 0 |

I will make a timid prediction - Man City will not win this season. I guess that means Arsenal will, but I won't go that far because I hope it's someone else.

Chelsea's squad looks like a squad built by a 13 year old playing Football Manager, they've got 6 goal keepers listed in their first team squad on Wikipedia, with another 5 out on loan. Does Todd Boehly think its like the NFL where you have a 45 man match day squad, seperate defensive and attacking teams and players swap freely back and forward through the match?
Surely they will sell or loan out a few before the window shuts?

Its always cute when a manager of a football team likes to import players from their own nationality, see it a lot in the PL.

Chelsea obviously need to work on their offensive side of the ball, the defensive side did their job and held the Manchester offensive unit to only two scores but unfortunately their offensive unit failed to find any scores, despite managing to find only one fewer shot on Manchesters goal than Manchester achieved on the Chelsea goal.
Fiddler you may not understand the above but I reckon JJ will have a giggle.

Fiddler: Man City win everything because they spend more than everyone else!
Fiddler: (In response to the above article) they spent the money before this 5 year period and now everyone has to play catch up.

Did you read this ? The Mailbox reckons Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag could be gone before the New Year. Also: How should Man City be punished if found guilty? Send your views to theeditor@football365.com
Man City punishment I’m torn at the moment between three options. 1. Expulsion from the premier league back to championship or even league one. Would be dramatic and impactful but at most would last 1-2 seasons before normal disservice resumes. 2. Currently I’m attracted to the idea of a 100 point deduction but spread out over the years they were found to be in breach of financial fairly, eg 20 points a season deducted for 5 seasons. I think this would be far more effective than option one and more reflective of the impact of City breaking FFP in the first place. That is instead of having what feels like an unnatural and unfair advantage every season they would experience the opposite. It feels more fitting and comparable to what other football fans have experienced. Or 3. Pep Guardiola admits unequivocally and on the record one time that his at City success was achieved by unfair means and should be discredited. Tough one eh? |

I think the fact that Real Madrid were willing to sell Casemiro while holding on to the 7 years old Luka Modric should have rung some alarm bells at Old Trafford.
