This crop of sires are making their presence felt already.  With Flying Artie, Shalaa, Capitalist, Frosted and now Odyssey Moon already having a winner on the books.  Odyssey Moon being the odd man out with only 34 foals in his first crop he has little chance of figuring in the ranks but the above listed sires all have good size crops which could push them to a win.  Add to them Star Turn and Extreme Choice who have promising stakes placed types out already.  Could be an exciting season for two year old and first season sire honours.

They do look like an excellent bunch. I've sung the praises of Flying Artie on here before and his pre-Christmas performance is very encouraging for stock that look more Autumn than Spring to me. Now has a winner and a black-type performer from only three runners. Extreme Choice is doing amazing things from only 48 first crop foals, the Shalaas have hit the ground running and Capitalist has a winner (although maybe they'd want a little more?). The Star Turns sold well at the Breeze-Ups, the Maurices are encouraging for a stallion that needs more time and Winning Rupert had both Ballarat clockwise jumpout winners. Only real surprise to me is to see Frosted at the top - lovely hose but didn't seem to be a source of pre-Christmas speed.

Swlfishly I'm hoping Artie can get a Group 2 winner in the Maribyrnong Plate next Tuesday.

How well is this crop going? G3 Ottawa Stakes yesterday - Rich Enuff (1st), Shalaa (2nd), Flying Artie (5th, beaten 1.3L). A Capitalist is favourite for tomorrow's Golden Gift and is joined by an American Pharoah and a Shalaa.

Sorry this is a bit off subject,  but I thought more might see it in this thread.
Does anyone know where The Last Lion, by Choisir, is now ?  I have searched the Darley/Godolphin stallion rosters but cant find him ?

My understanding is Kildangan (Darley) 2020, Hedgeholmes 2021.  Turkey possibly next.

Thank You all for finding him for me.
Lets hope he can do better at a smaller place without the competition of those bigger name stallions, and he doesnt end up in Turkey.
Thanks again SC and Brudder.

Flying Artie is, er, flying.  His stock have sold for below average prices both last year and at MM this year, so quite a few may have picked up a bargain.

Going rate for a winner is $90k. Slightly less ($85k) for a place-getter.

$78k avg for a stakes (incl. RL) runner.

Pretty excited to have a mare in foal to Flying Artie this year. They’re only going to get better in the autumn and next year.

Well is appears you're investing your trailing commissions well Robbo.  Wink

Love the Better Boy dupe on Artie's female side and agree his stock should improve as older horses over 1400 to 1600m and perhaps further depending on the mare.

Not a bad day all around with Counterattack now providing a winner.  Extreme Choice also had a winner and Capitalist and Flying Artie.  This is a very strong crop of stallions.

I marked a few Flying Artie's to follow and Artorius and Harlem Groove were two of them.  Just didn't have the sense to put them in the TBV comp.. I did put two in the comps last year but I don't think either have a name yet!

Bit like me with the SA "Discreet" family Furious.  Took quite a few who can't go, and the ones I decided against just keep winning.

I've been pumping FArtie's tyres up on this site for over 2 years. Unfotunately the 1 mare I breed with in my retirement years is not a good match even at the 2020 gift fee of $10k

It's that so many of them have started so well Glencoe which is really amazing.  Very few sire crops throw up two first season stallions with four winners by the end of January.  Let alone the number which have winners on the board.  Extreme Choice wouldn't have been one which I thought would be one of them with his smaller crop but obviously he has the punch to throw a winner.
