Hi all.

I got sick of trying to find stallions standing in Victoria without searching in multiple places, so I've spent the last few days compiling this list of all the stallions I have been able to find that are standing in Victoria this year.  There are a couple that I can't find any details for, but are not listed on the Stud Book as deceased, so maybe they are still about somewhere.

Potter is alive, well and not too subtly trying to tell me that as soon as the overnight temp regularly gets into double figures he'd like his jammies (rugs) removed and a decent chance to 'talk' to his girls.

I forgot Via Corone - I've got 2 here in the paddocks spelling/growing at the moment and they are both lovely types.  Whilst I think he's technically in NSW looking at the phone number, he must be just over the border.

A lot of work there: well done.  Thumbs Up

Via Corone's dam was a group 1 winner as was her half brother Bluebird The Word.  He himself hasn't had much chance at stud, not helped by a pretty poor fertility rate.

Suspect he may stand for a member of the Wallace family that were very active stud-masters on the NSW/Vic border quite some years ago.

there are quite a few stallions who barely achieve an AEI above approx 1.04 & are therefore overpriced, even though they are supposedly considered commercial.( Not in Vic but the most O/p horse for racetrck return will be Deep Field even given that he gets lots of wnrs)

Best value by far would have to be ILTC     Aei of 1.16...    4.7% SW      87% rnrs/named foals   65% w:r
He seems to like Danehill mares, nicks well with Mr P B/mare sire lines, likes returns of Sir T & Kenmare. Would probably like mares from Showdowns family and Summoned

But the best value in Oz for a very long time will be Flying Artie

I reckon Redente is huge value for breed to race Smile & Reward For Effort at a discount tho' I'm not sure Chatswood stoop to such niceties Confused

Checked flying and he’s way too dear. Redente is a very good breed to race stallion and probably under the advertised by a good margin.

Yes. The question was about Best value stallion in Vic.
Ilovethiscity is by far that stallion but I also mentioned F Artie in NSW because at present he appears to be a once in a decade opportunity

a couple of old stagers in that lot, but still producing the goods
i bet there's some good deals on offer with them

Value wise I like Volitant, widen Valley,Redente and Danerich in Victoria. Check them out. They produce very good stock that race on for the home breeder.

Golly, that made me sit up and take notice Gonski.   Volitant.   I wondered where he was.    I remember seeing him years ago out at Orange, and havnt heard or seen of him since.  Memories. Nice to see he is still around.   He was a good looker.  And a very good natured horse.

based upon this there are supposed commercial stallions in Vic on there 2nd, 3rd & 4th season of rnrs who are about to be found out
Granted some have the occasional promising mid dist/ stayer but they become commercial suicide. On the flip side they become wonderful opportunities for owner/breeders

Vino Rosso is intriguing. It seems an attractive price for his resume.

Fastest Breeders’ Cup ever, according to the marketing... winner at 2, 3 & 4.

A Streey Cry dam side also offers less-worn paths to Buckpasser and Rough Shod... whether or not that’s a good thing is beyond my expertise, but let’s hope he can serve some decent sized books and get a few into the sales.

It’s good to see the newer players in the Victorian industry making a decent push.

I have written a screed on Analysing stallions on this site which may help some sort their stallion choice. 
Some analysis is better than a dartboard approach, altho in assessing the new entrants in Vic for 2020, I am not sure what analytical tools were used
