Group I winning pocket rocket retired

Beaded, one of Australia’s most genuine racehorses has been retired after a below par performance in last Saturday’s Group I Doomben 10000.

The daughter of Lonhro leaves the racetrack with 10 wins and 13 placings from 27 starts with career earnings of more than $1.6 million.

A mark of Beaded’s consistently is the fact that three of her four unplaced runs have come in her last five starts when she raced below her best.

The six-year-old won the 2011 Doomben 10000 and also placed at the elite level on five other occasions including in last year’s Newmarket Handicap behind Black Caviar.

She also carried 54kg when going down narrowly behind Sincero in last year’s Stradbroke Handicap.

"She owes us nothing and deserves to go stud,” trainer Peter Snowden said.

"She’s as big as an ant, but fought well above her weight and gave everything in all of her races.”

Beaded will visit Darley’s Street Cry later this year when she makes her first trip to the breeding barn.

Agreed. A truly great mare in her own right. It's hard to believe she has only one G1 on her CV. With a little more luck she could've had two Stradbrokes, a Winter Stakes and a Robert Sangster to her name as well.

The Sangster was a tragedy. I have never seen a bigger certainty beat in a Group 1 race. Still havent forgiven Zahra for that ride (mind you, Saturday he had an opportunity to get in, and ignored it). Devastated that Yosei stole a Group 1 off her as well. Angers me that a horse as honest as Beaded retires with less Group 1's than Yosei.
If her progeny have half the heart of her, they will have great careers.

Bezel to race tomorrow race 1 at Canterbury, by Street Cry and ran a very good second in a barrier trial earlier this month. Never let go in the trial and McDonald looked to have a good hold on him throughout.

If he has inherited any of his mum's tenacity he'll be hard to beat in a mid week maiden.

I still want to wring Yosei's neck for nailing Beaded in the Winter Stakes.

Thanks so much for posting this!
I loved this mare to bits. That race (?) where BC was galaxies in front but Beaded never gave up chasing.

Bezel resumes today at Newcastle race 4, drawn well and Crownbet had him at $2.15 yesterday.
Now into $1.70 on a good track. Gets his chance today surely.

Beaded's first winning foal. Clap
At the top of the straight he had a big job to do but ended up winning clearly. Once he hits top gear he looks awesome.

Yep nice win.

I was on him at huge odds for the Caulfield guineas, but I guess he just couldn't get ready in time.

will be following bezel wherever he goes

Bezel up in distance to a mile today in Sydney. (djebel has mentioned the mile would suit)
Doesn't look like a very difficult race on paper (although the handicapper hasn't missed him ) and he could make it 3 from 3 this prep, I hope.

60 kgs and fought on well at his first run over the mile. Looked like he'll improve a fair bit off that run.

Looks like O'Shea is throwing Bezel into the deep end. Nommed for the Carbine Club Stakes.

I thought he'd be in the paddock with the autumn in mind so he must be doing something for O'Shea to give him a trip to Flemington during the carnival.

10/1 atm. Damn big jump in class.

Wow he did get beaten but he shows terrific tenacity. Beaded all over again.
And to be beaten half a length and running 3rd at his first run at Group level is hopefully the start of a successful Group racing career ahead.

Beaded's first filly too. Didn't jump as well as the others in the trial but certainly caught them when JMac let her slip without any real effort.
$8 early now $5 after scratchings, still EW odds.Big smile
