Parnham's Rupert Clarke Lad ride in doubt

Chris Parnham must rely on the goodwill of several trainers if he is to ride Voodoo Lad in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes on Saturday week.

Parnham has ridden the Darren Weir-trained galloper to his two most recent wins but put his availability in jeopardy by incurring a careless riding charge at Racing.com Park on Wednesday.

Racing Victoria stewards issued a 10-meeting ban for the interference he caused to Chelsea Hall aboard Don't Get Excited in Race 6, leaving the door ajar to be back in time for Voodoo Lad on September 24.

But for the ban to commence immediately, Parnham must now relinquish his commitments on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Parnham only has one ride at Racing.com Park on Thursday but then has five bookings at both Geelong on Friday and Caulfield on Saturday.

WATCH: Voodoo Lad's last-start win

If Parnham is required by a trainer to ride at any of the three meetings, he will then be unable to ride Voodoo Lad in the Sir Rupert Clarke.

The 19-year-old jockey pleaded guilty to the charge but was extremely frustrated as he left the stewards' room.

Parnham is yet to record a Group 1 victory and sees Voodoo Lad as the perfect opportunity to land the biggest win of his career.

Follow up to the above, Chris will not be riding today, tomorrow or Saturday so he can be back to ride the Lad in the Rupert Clarke.

Weir is not happy to say the least. Annoyed that Chris didn't block Kerrin in. Handed the race to him on a platter

Just a classic Weir horse. He has no peer to keep a horse peaking for long periods.

Has the potential, only a little bit of history against him. Like the horse.

Took the $26 on offer yesterday... still have Mal ahead of him in the TJ Smith but anything above $20 is big overs for this horse.

Slow early pace didn't help him either. Would certainly be in the running for a slot in the Everest.

Voodoo Lad - pulled up distressed after the race and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
