Linda Reynolds will fight Commonwealth government 'until the bitter end' in lawsuit related to Brittany Higgins


Ms Reynolds said all the legal action she had taken had resulted in her and her partner taking out a second mortgage on their house, and that they were millions of dollars in debt.

There is nothing as stoopid as spending millions suing someone who doesn’t have millions.

If I’m worth $3M and you sue me claiming $3M in damages.
I can either offer no defence, or spend most of my $3M defending it.
If, like this case you are awarded 10% of that, it’s too late,cos I’ve spent it on legals.
So congratulations, have a celebratory dinner, then cough up the millions you owe your lawyers.

She’s ended up just like Brucey, in that neither can pay.
But she’s the defendant, your mate Brucey has been forcing others to pay legal fees to defend ridiculous cases he keeps starting.

In fact....i've spent more time that the subject matter deserves.....only on the basis you are normally "fairly" astute in matters such as these.

So let's take it step by step ;

1 - Bruce was broke & had no future as soon as he was formally named in this sordid affair

2 - Bruce was broke & had no future when the arm in arm brigade were active

2 - Bruce was broke & had no future after he was acquitted in his criminal trial

3 -  Bruce was broke & had no future after the ACT Prosecutor was found to have cooked the books during the ACT trial.

4 - Bruce was broke & had no future after Brittney was compensated after Bruce was still as free as a bird

5 - Bruce was broke & had no future after Lisas TV performance, combined with those recordings at that Sydney hotel which revealed the political skullduggery actually driving the whole thing 

6 - Bruce was broke & had no future after his failed attempt to prosecute a defamation case

7 - Bruce was broke & had no future after his failed attempt to overturn the decision. 

So here's my problem Rusty, his actual starting point did not change from day one when he was broke & had no future

So that being the case.....how was rolling the dice.....or having a free hit.....ever going to make his position worse than it already was ?

On the flip side....a win in the deformation could have delivered millions

Suggest you take your angst out on our legal system.....not poor old Bruce.

Oneone? I always regarded you as a man of the world.

I think barristers and judges use the hifalutin term, “impecunious”. I know you know…it means “broke”.

Anyone who takes civil action against someone who is “broke” is an idiot (or has so much money it doesn’t matter and they are trying to salvage their reputation).

Yeah, the legal system should have required him to lodge a bond covering the original judgement, before allowing any appeal.
That doesn’t mean he’s not a shameless pr1ck for doing it.

No surprise there:

Evidence was provided that Sofronoff engaged in 91 telephone calls with journalists, 51 of which were with Ms Janet Albrechtsen, and 22 of which were with Mr Hedley Thomas from the Australian. The 91 telephone calls were for a total of 13 hours and 37 minutes. The telephone calls with Ms Albrechtsen were for 6 hours and 19 minutes, and with Mr Thomas for 5 hours and 8 minutes. 
It was further revealed that Albrechtsen flew to Brisbane for a private lunch with Sofronoff.[18] It was reported that the contact with Albrechtsen was in stark contrast with that afforded other media outlets.[19] In September 2024, the ACT Supreme Court released 1700 pages of communications, revealing complaints from other journalists, including The Australian reporting on things that did not happen. It also revealed that Sofronoff personally provided documents to Albrechtsen that he had marked "strictly confidential".[20]

Bruce Lehrmann launches High Court appeal in latest defamation fight, alleging findings 'compromised'


Former Liberal staffer Bruce Lehrmann has filed documents with the High Court detailing grounds of appeal against the findings in a defamation case that he raped then-colleague Brittany Higgins in 2019, on the balance of probabilities.

The appeal includes allegations Justice Michael Lee conducted his own research, and the Federal Court of Appeal was wrong to uphold justification defences from Network 10 and journalist Lisa Wilkinson. 

Mr Lehrmann has always maintained his innocence, denying any sexual activity took place.
