Stupid race for him.

The horse is far superior to his trainer.

The fact he hasn't seen further than 7 furlongs in 6 starts is baffling

Despite the defeat of Fifty Stars, who was purchased by Gerry Ryan when unraced in Ireland, Weir said he was pleased enough with the performance to finish second to Manuel but said he still needed to work on the horse to improve his racing manners.

"Last time in he used to be a very difficult horse," Weir said of the son of Sea The Stars.

"He used to be very aggressive and want to get things done too quick so we've concentrated on getting him to switch off and do all the right things, but it's sort of gone the other way now.

"Johnny (Allen) said he might need working in company now to get him hard and fit.

"It's all a bit trial and error but I'm not one bit concerned. He had a beautiful day out and he'll come on from that."

Fifty Stars had won four of his first five starts out to 1400 metres but Weir said the horse is certain to learn from Wednesday's defeat and would have another chance to shine this spring.

It is bordering on disgraceful.

Just checked his breeding. Sea The Stars out of Sadlers Wells mare. Suggests 2400m+.

Sea The Stars has had maybe...7 horses ever to win at 1200m or below. It's something crazy like that. Out of like 250 odd winners.

Hopefully he is not sick of it all by the time he gets there.

It is almost as though they run him in races a minimum of 200m short of where he should be.

Their target is apparently the Railway in Perth. This would be fine if he was first or 2nd up but with that race 5 and a half weeks away and him likely to have 2 or 3 starts before than he is going to be too dour.

Maybe he’ll have s break and go to the Railway Stakes 1600m as the first start of a summer campaign that would be followed by the Kingston Town 1800m & the Perth Cup 2400m. Those latter races would qualify him for the major Cups in Spring 2019.

TAB have him as a 5/1 fave for Tuesday’s 1400m race.

He’s also 10/1 for the Railway Stks 1600m in Perth, but 25/1 for the Kingston Town over 1800m.

Looks a good race for him, and he'll presumably head west if he preforms to expectations.

They must have hammered him today, because in Best Bets he was $5 with Sports bet, and I was thinking that was short.

The stable finally get Man From Uncle out to 1400m, Manuel is in form, Prince Of Quens is underrated, Éclair Calling is no slouch and am interested in Qiji Phoenix ( barrier), and Bravo Tango.

Good strong race!

Maybe a little too nippy for him around Ascot, wanted to lay in a little a furlong out, could have been on the wrong leg maybe, still think he's 6 months away imo.

Now we are being told Australia's fastest stayer is going to be asked to run over 1500m at Sandown on Saturday week and go to Perth the following week for The Railway.

I hope the travel arrangements get stuffed up and he does not make it to Perth.
