Not entirely or there would be fewer English players in the EPL.

Anges teams started well but have fallen away in their first match.

It's kind of ridiculous. You spend billions on building a team and the measure of success or failure is whether you win $1000 trophies or not.Big smile

Spurs must think they on to something exchanging Harry for Ange.

Yet Brighton & Hove Albion are top after 2 games and are playing in Europe!

Why would you use the form of Brighton winning against Luton and Wolves, the two clubs widely tipped to finish 19th and 20th, to criticise Spurs, who have just defeated Man Utd, the team who finished 3rd last season?

Brighton are a well run club who have managed to identify talent at the low end and sell said talent on at the high end and are riding the creast of that wave at present, the same wave that Leicester rode within the last decade to League and FA Cup triumphs and a Champions League Quarter Final, logic suggests eventually the wave will dump them just as it did Leicester, as the vultures with deep pockets will continue to pick at their squad (see MacAllister and Caicedo this summer) eventually the flow of talent, as with Leicester, will be greater out than in.

Although I'll be very glad if I am provem wrong on this, as it is good to see a small club flying high and the way the game is at present, with the "big 6" being able to dominate the way they do cannot be good for the game long term.

Every team is equal when the enter the starting gates....
Sometimes a 100/1 gets up for a nose victory. I think you'se seen that somewhere...

Actually as a ManUtd fan after yesterday's pathetic performance I was complementing Spurs for exiting old blood (last week:Kane 1st start for Bayern Munich was a 3-0 loss in the German Super Cup! Hurrah!) and the bringing of new blood - "our" Greek lad Ange! Great to see a new Oztraylan strutting his stuff!

The season is young but its real nice to see Brighton and Hove Albion leading out of the gate. ;)

Agreed re Brighton, the Leicester title winning season had me the most engaged in the Premier League of any season in over 20 years, it would be great to see Brighton sustain a title challenge instead of the usual mega-rich club strolling home scenario.

Newcastle have not added a point since thrashing Villa 5-1 on the opening day, Villa meanwhile have 2 league wins and thrashed Hibs 8-0 on aggregate in UECL qualifying.  Important game for Villa tonight at Liverpool.

Quite contrasting form.

Lets not also forget the big one of the day, Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forrest.

Everton also grabbed their first point and goals with a 2-2 draw at Sheffield United.

Arsenal 3-1 Manchester United
Liverpool 3-0  Aston Villa
Crystal Palace 3-2 Wolverhampton

Our old mate fiddler won't be happy as his lot go down in North London for the second time this season, Liverpool and Arsenal doing their best to keep pace at the top.

Looks like another important fixture for fiddlers mob this weekend coming as Brighton head to Old Trafford, but first a trip to Harry Kanes Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Aston Villa defeating Crystal Palace 3-1 with goals in the 87th, 98th and 100th minutes was somehiow not the most dramatic match overnight, with Spurs scoring in the 98th and 100th minutes as well to win 2-1 against Sheffield United who somehow managed to have a player sent off 4 minutes after the winning goal.

Elsewhere, Newcastle got back on track defeating Brentford, Fulham got the points by the same score against Luton, Man City and Liverpool both won 3-1 away at West Ham and Wolves respectively, Brighton matching that score at Old Trafford against the missing mans team.

Why are there such extremely long periods of extra time in many games in the last year or two? There was one of the games last night with 17 minutes.Shocked Did someone die?

I think there is an effort in the Premier League to make time added on actually match the time lost.

Two relative newcomers to the Premier League, Brentford and Brighton, are both owned by professional gamblers who made their fortunes betting on football. Tony Bloom of Starlizard (b. 1970, Lancing, maths at Manchester, professional poker) and Matthew Benham of Smartodds (b. 1968, Slough Grammar, physics at Oxford, derivatives trading) are former colleagues at Premier Bet who haven’t spoken since 2004.

The Man Utd method, from the outside looking in at least, appears to be just throw money at the latest hot name.  Jadon Sancho is an example, they spent 2 years chasing him and he's been bang average since they got him.

Differing business models I guess, for United they would rather sign the big name that drives ticket and merch sales than sign the unknown player.

Crystal Palace 1-2  Tottenham Hotspur (played Friday night UK time)
Chelsea 0-2 Brentford
Arsenal  5-0 Sheffield United
Bournemouth 2-1 Burnley
Wolverhampton 2-2 Newcastle

Another disappointing result for Chelsea, important wins for Spurs and Arsenal.

Big game for the fiddler tonight, the Manchester Derby.

They'll worm their way out of it, or any FFP implications that may come from it.

Everton may not be so lucky, not being a member of the "big 6".

Tell me why Man Utd with a billion pound debt should not also have the 12 point deduction hanging over their head that Everton, with a billion pound debt have?

Man Utd are the club in England that have been at the front of turning the game from sport into business, been the main drivers behind this "big 6" environment where its virtually impossible for other clubs to break the cartel long term as Leicester City showed recently and Brighton will eventually.

They are the antithesis of the working class hero's you claim them to be.
