Well after five weeks as PM Elbow has globe trotted around the world in that he has probably spent more time out of Australia than at home. Whilst away he has entrusted the running of the economy to incoming Treasurer Jim Chalmers along with Finance Minister Katy Gallagher, which due to the financial mess the world is in today must be the two most important portfolios in government.

No doubt Elbow, like Gough Whitlam all those years ago, but lacking Gough's grand imperial flair, relishes being on the world stage meeting just about every world leader and has been able to leave all the economic woes to others back home.

It is obvious Elbow, again like Gough, has little interest in either the economic reality or the economic detail, as he clearly showed during the election campaign when the two most basic and important statistics, the cash rate and the jobless rate were beyond him.

Are we therefore embarking on a Whitlam Version 2 ?

Do you think Albo should sit on a chair outside Jim Chalmers office till Jim and Katy have fixed the mess they were left Bob?

He is busy repairing the messes Australia was left to our foreign relationships, having said today that he thinks they have got France back onside.

Might be a new issue today though with a heap of patrol boats the previous govt gave to our various Pacific neighbors leaking carbon monoxide into them. Getting rid of junk on them.

You say that as if it is a bad thing?

I believe he names Gough as a hero of his and also Hawke and Keating as mentors.

His social justice beliefs put him in that mix.

PT, lets hope his economic team does a better job than Gough's Treasurers Jim Cairns and Frank Crean did.

Gough ran surplus budgets, our most recent govt ran up a Trillion in debt.

PT, the state of the economy was why Gough was given the Khyber. You might say the same about Morrison, so for Australia's sake, let's hope Elbow's underlings do a better job than Gough's did back in the 70s.
