Shrunk I thought last year's Easter sale was just a tad ordinary compared with the norm, however imo this year is by far the best in recent history.

Maybe because a good number of the very well bred but awfully legged/conformed lots were arguably consigned to Melbourne Premier this year.

I've marked 19 based on what I look for in a pedigree, however there's certainly a heap more who others would prefer.

Fwiw: 40, 48, 62, 76, 82, 117, 119, 130, 178, 206, 212, 247, 297, 323, 370, 400, 480, 492 and 507.

Two fillies and a colt caught my eye -
502 - A great way to start a broodmare band.
508 - A  superb throw back to St Trice

21 - Outstanding colt who'll be worth a fortune if performance matches pedigree

I hope lot 3 does not go anywhere near Waller.

That said I have no idea who I'd pick, perhaps send him to Japan or Europe.

73 looks like a pocket rocket just as he is bred to be.

111 near perfect

218 nice front end, not quite the power packed rear end I like.

I've got too many marked at the moment but plenty will go way over what I want to follow so will get knocked out - probably.  Three picked by SC and one by Shrunk in the Wash.

I also have 22 lots out of mares which I've picked over the years (or their daughters etc) and 3 is one of those and 48 another.

It does seem to be one mouth watering lot after another so some must sell for unders surely!  Well that's what I'm hoping anyway.

And this as if her pastern'll snap just below the fetlock. Maybe due to the already underrun heels/long toes but striking in the pic.  NF.

Can't believe they have left so much toe on the Choisir filly lot 79, problems down the line imo.

This is why I'm constantly decrying the general loss of farriery skills over the past 40 odd years, she's not a one off, those examples are everywhere Angry
Do trainers not know what a well balanced foot should look like any more?
So many needlessly breakdown due to dreadful foot angles & imo, it's not rocket science!

Lovely clean legged filly, not hard to fall base over apex on some of these young ones.

I know most of the pedigrees I've pick will be even though they aren't the best there are.  My TBV stable will probably have to come from the other sales but nothings has gone that cheap this year.  She is a beauty though.

We have one with Pearce Racing in WA.  One of the brothers is a genuine master farrier who's already shown his mettle with positive results with the colt concerned.  It makes such a huge difference.
