NSW’s next premier Dominic Perrottet is a conservative who opposed laws to force priests to disclose child abuse arguing “the confessional seal is sacrosanct no matter what sins are confessed”.
Good start

Congratulations to the new Premier of NSW.
A man who lets his religious beliefs influence his political work. A man who is opposed to marriage equality, abortion and assisted dying. A man who believes welfare is partly to blame for rising divorce rates and declining fertility. A man who vocally opposed a bill that would require priests to disclose child sexual abuse. A man that cost NSW more than $3 billion via the dodgy iCare program. This was the "best man for the job". Good luck NSW.

He can come down to Victoria if that is all he has cost NSW. It is estimated Dan has cost Victoria $125 million each day of his lockdowns. $ 125,000,000 X 246 and counting. |

What is it all about that Perrottet's Catholic faith that has got the ABC offside ? I do not recall the ABC jumping all over Malcolm Turnbull when became PM or when Kristina Keneally became Premier of NSW over their Catholicism.
Why is the ABC so upset ? As a Catholic is Perrottet too young or does he have too many children to be Premier or does the ABC think he will force other members of his cabinet to follow his conservative views, all of which are fanciful. No the ABC just not like conservative Catholics.
BTW I am not Catholic, and have never been baptised or practised any religious faith in my entire life. |

Even if that his belief, he alone cannot change the law, he would not get it past his cabinet.

So, Bobbie’s gone from what’s wrong with him.
To, settle down, the nut bag still has to deal with the cabinet (of his choosing) before his outrageous views become law…..

I do wonder just how smart Dom is. Why would you change the re-opening roadmap & put your signature on it ? If he stayed on Glady's course for a while it was never going to come down on him. So as soon as the figures start to rise - & they will - its now going to be his baby to defend.

It's all about economics with Dom. The health advice takes a back seat. I will be interesting to see how the economy side goes without fixing the health side first.

He doesn't come over well in his press conferences. I have no confidence these changes will be successful.
Common sense seems to be taking a back-seat to greed. |

His wife sounds smart. Must be a dynamo to get a law degree part time and be successful in the law in between all that breeding.

The thoughts of our mayor on the eve of opening up.
Confusion, contradictions and is there a way forward? Everything about the Reopening NSW Roadmap is confusing. With no further announcements today to clarify and correct this dog's breakfast, where are we left and what’s required from Monday 11th October? Businesses must take ‘reasonable steps’ to ensure that only vaccinated people can attend their premises. Police have been given guidance that having a sign up in your store saying that customers must be vaccinated is NOT enough as a reasonable step to ensuring compliance. However, it is completely unreasonable for staff to be put in this position and therefore as far as I am concerned, I don’t see that they need to do it. I think it a perfectly reasonable position for businesses to have a sign up with conditions of entry stating that the onus of complying with the public health orders is on the individual. As has been noted, businesses are already having to suffer a loss of trade by losing potentially over half their customers, meaning they may have to cut back staff. To then require those staff to enforce compliance against an angered section of their community, many of whom through no fault of their own have not been able to be double-dosed, is completely unreasonable and unworkable. Many businesses are afraid that they may be dobbed in and therefore have made the decision to close until December 1. Crimestoppers are being inundated with complaints and this will likely increase hugely as complaints roll in from people that may feel the need to do what they consider is the right thing and advise of businesses not checking for vaccination status. There are already long delays between complaints being made to Crimestoppers and these being flagged to police for follow-up. These delays will no doubt extend so it is putting the police in an atrocious situation as well, as they are bearing the brunt from two groups in the community, those that take on the role of enforcing and those that feel unfairly impacted. This is completely unfair to the police and it is clear that they have too much to do already, hence why they will not in any way be proactively enforcing compliance on this. I doubt they will be able to respond effectively to these complaints at all come next week. There are so many contradictions in all this it is just bizarre. There has been a provision for regional staff whereby they can be allowed to work if they can show a single dose and an appointment for the next. What if the plan was to go to the chemist for the second shot? You don’t normally need an appointment for that? On top of this, the ‘vaccination status’ technology isn’t ready yet, so people cannot even prepare for this ridiculous system coming on Monday. For our part as local leaders, from Taree to Tweed and out to Tenterfield we have today requested an urgent meeting with the Premier to go through these concerns and get some sense back. Predictably, we haven’t had a response, but hope springs eternal. My advice at this stage is, put the onus on the people to self-regulate. As a business, put up a sign around the conditions of entry and be done with it. It is not businesses job to enforce compliance on behalf of the State Government, nor is it reasonable in the circumstances. Whilst you could argue we have been doing this for QR codes around entry to premises, is a completely different matter to expect staff to ask about customers' personal medical history. This roadmap for Monday is completely unfair and stressful and needs to be rethought. |

Furious, when my family are catching up with my Dad next Thursday, for example, we will be going to the local test site on the a Tuesday afternoon. We will all test negative. stay at home Wednesday . Plenty of things to do. Thursday we’ll embark on the hour drive, put our masks on, sanitise our hands and walk through his front door where he will be only too happy to wear his mask Even if you’re vaccinated you should do this as the vaxxed can pass it on but if you test negative there is zero chance of harming your loved ones Be smart, be safe and be with your family. It’s easy

Indigenous Business is a business that has 50% ownership by Torres Strait Islanders and/ or Indigenous Australians, that is great, by the significance of Indigenous Business Month escapes me.

We read strong opinions of not believing in any Gods or Religion teachings
that have been part of our life since the year DOT , BUT then we get on here and are prepared to stake our lives on the guess work of thousands of academics who can't agree on anything . We are a funny breed of cattle. |

so, Macca, you think God is sitting in some laboratory, inventing a vaccine?
or tending the sick? or even hanging around to answer your prayers? He buggered off, long ago, after seeing what a mess he made of this planet. |
