Cricket Australia takes action to include transgender and gender diverse people

August 08, 2019

Cricket Australia has today announced the direction for the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse people in elite and community cricket.

Commencing consultation with key stakeholders in October 2018, Cricket Australia has developed an Elite Cricket Policy and Guidelines for Community Cricket to support players electing to participate in cricket in line with their gender identity, whether or not this aligns with the sex they were assigned at birth.

At a starting point, the Elite Cricket Policy aligns closely with the International Cricket Council’s Eligibility on the Basis of Gender Recognition and provides transgender and gender diverse cricketers guidance on how they can compete at the highest levels of the sport, consistent with their gender identity. As an additional measure, a referral process to an Expert Panel has been established to ensure fair and meaningful competition.

The Guidelines for Community Cricket will assist clubs, players, administrators, coaches and other volunteers deliver a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment, free of harassment and discrimination for gender diverse players at the game’s grassroots.

Kevin Roberts, CEO of Cricket Australia said:

“It doesn’t make any sense that today, people are discriminated against, harassed or excluded, because of who they are. And that’s not right.

“Today we demonstrate our commitment to include people with an affirmed gender identity in the game at every level and ensure all people in our communities experience Australian cricket’s inclusive culture.

“As strength, stamina and physique are all relevant factors when competing in competitive sport, transgender and gender diverse players will be supported to participate in elite cricket, subject to certain criteria through the implementation of this policy.

“Our dedication to a fair and inclusive sport across international and domestic competitions sees the policy strike a balance between the opportunity to participate and ensuring fair competition.

“From a community cricket level, the guidelines provide robust guidance for clubs and associations to encourage the participation of transgender and gender diverse players and support frameworks for people who are subject to any form of harassment or discrimination on the basis of their sex or gender identity.

“Discrimination of any sort has no place in the game and all of Australian Cricket is driven to ensure all cricketers can participate in a harassment-free environment.”

Megan Schutt, Australian cricketer said:

“Inclusion matters in every sense. Cricket Australia's vision is to be a sport for all, so everyone deserves to be included.

“To have a policy and guidelines that includes transgender and gender diverse players will create a better environment for everybody to play the game.

“Now that we know that anyone who is transgender or gender diverse has a chance to play cricket at the highest level - and rightfully so - I'm confident that the elite cricket policy will provide a fair process for transgender and gender diverse cricketers to embark on that pathway.”

If every trannie in the country played cricket, they wouldn't have enough to run a comp for them ... they wouldn't even have enough to make a Trannie only Brazilian Waxing Business financially viable.

Stop pandering to these mental cases, just get them a good psychiatrist ... going woke will only will fcuk your game CA ... ask Raelzzz at RA.

Sounds like a fantastic new business enterprise for a Far North Coast hinterland retiree - may I suggest a name for the budding franchise ...

"Show Us You're (Brazil) Nuts"

... you could approach the famous body builder - Anna Bolic - to act as an International Ambassador when you go global.

Not suggesting it won't be wildly successful and popular, but I reckon you will be able to set up shop and run it out of an abandoned telephone box, if the Brunswick Heads Cafe Unisex Schitter is too busy ...Big smile

Will Pucovski just scored another century in the Sheffield Shield match against WA. This follows 255 not out in the previous game. He currently has a first class career record of 1585 runs @ 54.65. Surely, he will make his test debut this summer.

Opened with Burns (shouldn't have been there) and Wade (never opened in 150 first class matches). Both out cheaply...what did they expect? Wacko I sometimes question how people get these selections SO wrong

Joe Burns - 3 ducks in his last 4 first class games before the test. Ave 6.8 in those games.

Marcus Harris - scores of 239 and 71 in his last 4 first class games. Ave 74 in those games.

Usman Khawaja - scored 131 and 46* in his last first class match before moving on to T20. Also averages 96 opening the batting for Australia in tests.

Shaun Marsh - 3 centuries in his last 4 first class games. Ave 97 in those games.

Australian selectors - We'll take Burns!!!!!! Confused

Burns?  Give us a #*! break.

More importantly Smith failure = Oz failure. With luck we might just make 150.

Our batsmen are totally outclassed.
Wade has never opened in his life but some idiot thought he should.
Burns average is 5 but gets picked
no shield has been played as a lead up but the money raking bbl has.
Whos running this bloody game??

The Aus openers were long odds on to fail but who would you pick instead? Khawaja seems like the obvious choice - goes good in Australia - but looking at his recent first class form - mostly bad - EXCEPT for last start 131 & 46* at Adelaide.

Are there any openers killing it in the Shield?

Only just discovered they now have 3 reviews. Whilst I am not totally against that Labuschagne's attitude was a little ordinary.

With the quickness and quality of technology they should just check everything now. Anything that is close check it.

And if ball tracker shows that the ball was partially hitting the stump, although given not out the appealing team keeps that challenge?

I suspect Khawaja amd Harris are im the Justin Langer bad books.

Marcus Harris should have been the one. Whoever it was was just warming the seat for Warner and his Boxing Day return.
