Very impressive winner of both starts, the 2nd at Murray Bridge where he came from last on straightening to win going away but can this stable keep him sound long enough to fulfill the promise he's showing? Confused
From another reknowned NZ family with Wuthering Heights as his 5th dam & Sir T duplicated thru' a son & daughter Heart

It is early days but looks like Russian Camelot may have some opposition in the spring.

No Wow today, but still a good run. He’s a promising young stayer.

Given it’s his first campaign, I assume he’d be put away for the Spring. Might be too much of an ask at this point to take him to the 3yo Mahogany Stakes 2500m next month.

It's not often you see a horse that was backed up too quick and look tired in the mounting yard run what I'm told was the fastest last 200m in the race.  Tongue

Haven't heard anything post-race, but if it was anyone other than McEvoy would suspect they might indeed give him a break.

Race 8 at Flemington is a very difficult race with plenty of chances in really good form.

Coolth might be a sneaky chance - 3rd run from a spell, up to 2000m, on the limit weight with Jai McNeil steering are all positives.

Yep, good stuff LH.  Hope you also had a little for the win.  Suspect the horse has a promising upside.

Calvin is running Ballarat but most of the staff will be working there.
Flemington stable will be closed by the end of the month
Cutting numbers back at Angaston to just have young horses and ones that are spelling.
Ballarat will have up to 100 horses, which is made up of 66 boxes, 30 yards and an 80m shed which has two 20-horse walkers, 24 tie ups, two treadmills

Fantastic set up.

"Co-trainer Calvin McEvoy said Coolth appreciated the addition of blinkers to his gear as he finished powerfully to win running away.

McEvoy added the stable have plans for the emerging stayer to contest the Group 2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) in March."

Thanks Grey Affair & SC, though it was a tough race so was only on each way.

Sounds like hes headed to the MV Night Cup over 2500m next month and then onto the Adelaide Cup in March

After his last start 2000m win, Team McEvoy stated that the further he goes in trip the better hell be, earmarking the 2500m Torney Cup & the Adelaide Cup as the immediate plans.

Then contrary to their view about him being better at an extended distance they proceed to run him in another 2000m race with predictable results Confused

Was good when resuming over 1600m at Flemington a few weeks ago.  Had expected him to be up in trip 2nd up, so let him go around without me today. But he still ran a super race today over the 1600m at MV.

I imagine hell next appear in 3 weeks in a 1700m open handicap at Flemington on Craiglee Stakes day.  But really looking forward to seeing him ultimately get out over 2400m+

Well finally get to test the staying prowess of this guy today & the horse needs to get his rating up quickly if hes going to get into bigger races later in the Spring.

Step up to 2500m, wide open spaces of Flemington & engagement of Brett Prebble.  All pointing to a positive outcome for my wager on him today.

That was a very plain effort. Not sure if he didnt run the trip or didnt cope with the 7 day back up.

Hes realistically not going to feature in any of the major staying races.  If connections want to try him at a staying trip maybe go to the RM Ansett Classic 2400m in a few weeks at Mornington.  Otherwise freshen him up for something like an Eclipse Stks at the end of the carnival.

Has been racing well this time in & todays race 8 at Sandown is the weakest race he’s contested recently.

After his last run over 1800m, I had him pegged as a backable proposition at his next start in an 1800-2100m race.  But here he is dropping back to 1600m!

With the drop in distance & uncertainty on a wet track, I’ll pass on him today.

Glad I avoided him last start at 1600m.  But back to 1800m in R7 at Sandown should be winning.
