Hidden genes have a lot to answer for!

I don't look like most of my direct family, but apparently I'm a splitting image of my great-grandmother on the dam side Big smile

our dog was a mix so my daughter got him dna tested to see what mix.  Everything under the sun but one was a hungarian dog which is a precursor to a greyhound.  Cant spell the name but as we had no clue what this dog was we looked it up online and Elvis' double came up.  Might only be about 14 percent of his dam's pedigree but it came out as what he looks like!

I remember when I used to follow the harness racing probably at least 25 years ago now, approx. There was a coloured racer.  Cant recall trotter or pacer but he was pretty good from memory and a skewbald .
Correct spelling not sure about but to say his name.  Rawshack.  Think it was spelled raur or something , but I rememberr seeing him many times.

I remember him, going to the trots with Mun and Dad, what a great horse he was too.

""I always wanted a coloured standardbred after watching Rorschach (a skewbald son of Preux Chevalier who won nine races in Queensland in the 1990s)."

The buckskin looks striking, I have had some buckskins or duns over time, love them, they are particularly tough.

how did they get that colour in standardbreds?  Bit of cheating going on.

I’m pretty sure there are no colour restrictions in the standardbred register. So they can be any colour. It’s just most of them are base colours.

GAJ - buckskins and duns are my absolute favourite, in colour and temperament! Wink

Rorschach's maternal grandsire Snow Time was a full brother to Karamea Snow's dam, Snowfall. both were by Meadow Chief x Snowflake. These YUMPU documents usually contain advertising that make them a bit awkward to read but the information is in there.

According to that allbreedpedigree database, Snowflake's damline were all pintos going back to Kaipara who was foaled in 1897

This pedigree also shows the breeding but doesn't mention the skewbald/piebald/pinto colour.
