Lonhro is 22 this year.

Hopefully he is still going strong when Coletter retires as a 6 or 7 year old and he covers her when she joins the Broodmare band.

Well they should target the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup.

Hopefully they are not as conservative as Chris Waller.

Not a lot of top class stakes winners from this family in Australia but in Europe Arctique Royale produced 4 stakes winners (3GW) and 3 stakes placed. 2nd dam Truly Special produced 2 GWers by Darshaan and Sadler's Wells respectively but without doubt the most famous member of this family is the champion stayer Ardross. GR1 Prix Royal Oak, GR1 Ascot Gold Cup (twice), GR2 Yorkshire Cup (twice) etc...

Does anyne know why Cummings has aimed Colette for the 1500m Golden Eagle when she clearly wants 2000m+?

I was under the impression he would be working her up to a distance race like the Caulfield Cup? Instead she has gone 1400m, 1600m, 1600m now back to 1500m?Confused

No idea, the Craven Plate, St Ledger, lots of races around that she would have been very competitive in.

I backed her in both cupsOuch

I’m staggered that he has chosen this sort of prep.

The only thing I can think of is that it’s aimed at giving her a “light” spring with the autumn the big target

Bizarre. Mystifying.Confused I've never heard of an ATC oaks winner that was kept to a mile the following spring. Bounding Away maybe?

She's got Buckley's in the Golden Eagle. What will she run in after that? Is this campaign a road to nowhere?

Trials at Hawkesbury tomorrow.

Defo ready for 2000m+ so I’d assume she’ll head to Vic for the Matriarch Stks 2000m & Sandown Classic 2400m double.

I have been rather brutal in my thoughts on her spring campaign but I have to admit they are a reasonable chance of taking home $4.1m on Saturday.

I tell you what guys that field is probably one of the best we have had this spring.

There are some big prices for some quality horses in that race. The two West Australians are $19.00 and $26.00. Sierra Sue is $13.00 and Bottega is $18.00.

This will be a very very tough race to win. Collette has a winning hope, but for me on a wet track.

Horses like Dawn Passage and Riodini are good quality horses but they are double figures here.

Even when fresh she hasn’t performed at this distance.

With the heavy track and the class milers bad draws Collette might start favourite. I will reassess her winning chance from impossible to unlikely.Tongue

I think Wenona Girl competed mainly as a sprinter/miler at 4, 5 & 6yo. She had 44 starts in that period & just two were at 10 furlongs.
