This article scientific enough for you Tlazz. The last comment under the heading "Like Nothing we Have Ever Seen" is a nice summary of how hot our global surface temperatures are at the moment cpd to previous profiles.

Are you talking about Hawkesbury Valley Way? Because that’s what we need leading to a bridge across the river. I know people with common sense and also the Historical Society concerned with saving what’s left of Thompson Square were advocating by passing Windsor itself and having a new bridge north of the town between Pitt Town and Wilberforce with elevated roads leading to it. Of course this was way too sensible for the government who decided to waste millions of dollars on what we have now.

Probably.  Have a daughter in Windsor and mother and sister at Annangrove and often use that between the two.

I’m hearing lots of horrible stories of horses lost and people frantically looking for them. It’s all very sad. Has anyone heard anything about how Godolphin are going out at Agnes Banks? They normally have their good ones out there. I’d say their training track would be well and truly underwater and unusable. I wonder if they got the racehorses out early?

Can you believe in 2007 that Tim Flannery was Australian of the Year. He should give back that award.

Flannery did indeed speak of a "permanent drought". A classic case of a man who really is not an expert in atmospheric physics or dynamics, getting a little carried away.

Flannery, who is not a climatologist, made a detour into sensationalist alarmism, the problem with trying to draw attention to AGW by scare tactics, is that when things don't unfold according to that script, people start wondering whether the whole idea isn't BS. Better to be more measured and conservative.

Bolt wrote that 8 years ago , showing people like Flannery, even then, just as is the case today, are out of their depth. At least back then we did not have Greta ramming her diatribe down our throats.

The point about Flannery is that he thought sensationalism had to be used, to make people take notice, but the unfortunate side effect is that when actuality does not correspond with dire predictions, the whole case suffers a credibility problem. Even if the overall case is sound.

Never too far away Thumbs Down

British University Splurges over £23,000 on Statue of Greta Thunberg

The University of Winchester is spending over £23,000 ($31,500) on a statue of Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, it has been revealed.

“The statue of Greta Thunberg was commissioned in 2019 and funded by the University as part of the West Downs Centre development,” a spokesman for the public research university confirmed in comments reported by The Hampshire Chronicle.

“The statue cost £23,760, within the overall £50m budget for the West Downs Centre,” the spokesman said of the large bronze, which was sculpted by Christine Charlesworth and is titled ‘Make a Difference’.

“The university wanted a sculpture of Greta because it is a very ‘green’ university, and they feel that Greta will be an inspiration to all the students,” Charlesworth explained.

Great to know you're ok, Baguette. We're also marooned on the western side, scarily close to the river but high enough to be well safe. No serious damage but it's been a long week. Thoughts are with all who have lost homes, belongings, pets and livestock.

In our area we keep seeing on local news all the poor cows and horses who have drowned and been washed up on beaches, and a beautiful grey horse jammed under Stockton Bridge.  Its just heartbreaking.
Stay safe everyone .  Terrible for those who now have to face the clean up.
All those beautiful homes built on the flood plains.  I heard a bloke saying the other day they couldnt get insurance. There is a reason for that.  Its why the older generations didnt build there on those known flood plains. Very sad for all who have lost everything. I dont know how I would face that.

I'm sure the zero emissions by 2050 won't apply to the mega rich as they travel in private jets and limos.

Zero emissions is made up fantasy land stuff just like climate change
