I'm scared sh*tless of Willi Willi, but I honestly believe Bedford is on a serious upward spiral and could land in a good race before the end of this prep.

Tavistock 4yo who put down a win like that next start...wow. Keen to be with him here albeit short against another promising one who leads.

I’m on.
I’ve also taken big odds for Hale Soriano to lob into place. Why? I don’t really know, just one of those days where roughies are winning.

Lane gets time for that. Raced like a drunk up the straight and took half of them out... maybe a protest too??
Not confident he keeps it

Head on isn’t as bad, but he just kept rolling in. Once he learns to go straight he will win by 10

Depends on your commission, Macca. Judging by your addiction you wouldn't pay much commission Wink. Nice bet, well done.

They can be worse than poker machines Sunline.      2 winners from 4 bets and I'm $5 behind.

Really promising young stayer.

Looked at his pedigree for the first time today and noticed his grandma is DARIA’S FUN, who was a gun stayer from NZ in the late 80’s.

She campaigned in Melb spring of 1987, culminating in an 8th in the Melb Cup. She then went back to NZ to run 2nd in the Auckland Cup before winning the Wellington Cup in what was then a world record time of 3:15.59 for the 3200m.

Hope we get to see BEDFORD over a genuine staying trip soon.

Freedman said he's keen to try him over 2400m but it also sounded like he's still quite immature. He said he wouldn't run him any sooner than 2.5-3 weeks between runs and they can't do much with him on the track - obviously still a but weak and immature.

Also noted the yard watch said he needs to fill out in the neck still.

Has improved out of sight with the step up to 2000m. Looks ready made for 2400m+. Certainly bred for it. Will be ideally suited by more pace, more distance, more experience and Flemington.

NZ bred so not sure about all the NZ form of the dam's progeny, but the two siblings to race in Australia won over 2400m and 2500m.

His sire's best progeny have generally been stayers, including Tavago, Tarzino, Volkstoknbarrel and Werther.

Had a look at him in the yard,he is just a lean horse and he wouldn't need the work which is why Freedman doesn't have to do that much with him. Looking forward to seeing him over a mile and a half in 12 months time.

That was a good win yesterday ,   well back in a very slow run race and widest around the turn,     The runner up was entitled to win with the dream rails run it got but Bedford far too good.
He will win better races over 2400m.

Laid in 6-7 horses over the closing stages. Might've been fatigue, or perhaps desperation from a rider under pressure?

Would there be temptation to muck around with his gear? Doesn't seem to be this Freedman's style.

I must be missing something. Not unusual.

Bedford had the perfect suck run throughout and didn't spend a penny until the 350m. He should have won, which he did, but he beat nothing after knocking out half the opposition.

He can go around without me until I see him win a race against a decent field.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left

Beat nothing AND he was down on the minimum. Having said that it was a slowly run race and he had to circle the field, and still did a bit wrong. Will need to improve a lot to mix it with the big boys, but he's still young and learning.

Let's face it, our staying horses are dreadful. If they manage him well he could turn into a good little money spinner.

He’s having a very good campaign, held up momentarily in the straight today at MV but finished off ok. Would have been no match for the winner but might have finished 2nd with a clear run.

Not sure The Valley suits his style of racing.

Interested to see how this guy goes in R5 at Sandown today.

1st up over 1800m after a long spell, so he’ll likely need the run.  But he doesn’t mind a wet track.
