Shouldn’t the likes of Spieth & Supido be concentrating on targeting more winnable local events such as the Goodwood Hcp, BTC Cup, etc? They’re decent sprinters but not sure why connections would think it worthwhile to travel to UK.

Merchant Navy and RW- good chances to win. The others- why bother?

Is it all expenses paid? I can't believe that you would shell out big bucks to get flogged 10000 miles away when you can do it here for free.

Hartnell is apparently going for the 1400m All Aged Stakes. If he were to win that I would love to see him go to the Queen Anne.

Merchant Navy a huge chance in any race he appears, even if he doesn't get quite the weight relief a SH 3yo is entitled to.

Although GG is just as good as that mare who won a G1 over there and I don't mean Miss Andretti- what was her name?

Coolmoore have set first season fee at 55k, we seem to be falling victim to the almingty dollar, s'pose you can't blame them , imo we will never see the best of this horse sadly , Trapeze Artist as well, the little grey may be next, I often think with all these young colts going to stud early how Stanley Wootton was prepared to let Todman recuperate from a nasty hock injury for two years and then bring him back at a risk of going again and not returning to his former glory , oh how the times have changed , thanks SW for giving the Ozzie racing public a chance to see this great horse again.

I have a very ancient memory of reading that Wooton restricted Star Kingdom to 40 mares a year. Is that anywhere near right? It may have been 60. What are the shuttlers up to now- 400?

That is correct Tlaz, SW done a deal small number of shares 4 I think , then some outside mares, but between 35-40 mares, can't remaember the fee but it was small, will get back to you.

Apparently in Australia SW kept half and friends MrAlf Ellison ( long time friend) and Mr Reg Moses a quarter share each, 300 gns first season fee then bumped up to 600gns .

Let’s remember that vet reproductive science was very natural in those “old” days. Teaser stallions were worth good money and the stud stallion often served the mars 2 or sometimes 3 times per cycle. I have an old film of Murray Bain and some of his vet work in the mating season. Very primitive but effective. Also shows how the gene pool was maintained for the betterment of the breed
