I read that a group of 100 ex AFL players are taking on AFL  in a class action for concussion injuries they  received in their player careers. The AFL is defending the case by suggesting players were aware of the risks they faced once becoming AFL footballers. Their defence is based on the fact that each club had its own medical staff to oversee those that were concussed during and after a game and that the class action should be against each individual club rather than the AFL and going back over 15 or 20 years is irrelevant as it is only in recent times that CTE has come to light of having been caused in games.

Alastair Clarkson has come under criticism for his use of colorful language in his coaching career.

Way back in his early coaching career he confronted two umpires on the way back from a flight from Perth to contest umpiring decisions. Cops a $5000 suspended fine. Since then ...

Had to be held back by his then-football boss Mark Evans as he verbally attacked Essendon’s Matthew Lloyd in 2009 after Lloyd’s high and late bump broke the cheekbone of Hawthorn’s Brad Sewell.A security guard reported hearing Clarkson say, "you had better f---ing retire you f---ing weak c---". The then-Hawks coach was handed a suspended $5000 fine by the AFL, which was  suspended for two years.

Put his hand through the wall of the MCG coaches’ box in fury in 2012 after his side gave up a goal to Collingwood late in the first quarter. “It just highlights the frustration and emotion of coaching from time to time. I’m not necessarily proud of it,” Clarkson said.

In 2012 he admitted to swearing at a junior football club official as he was told to leave the ground while organising his son Matthew’s under-19s team. Clarkson told the 19-year-old official to “f--- off” when the teen told him to stop coaching players on field.

In 2013 Clarkson lashed out at AFL reporter Matt Thompson after the journalist asked if he was expecting an easy win for his side in the coming game. He told Thompson his question was foolish then walked off as he called Thompson a “c---head”.

In 2013 he apologised to VFL Victoria for abusing two Port Melbourne players at quarter time after one of them was reported for an off-the-ball clash with Box Hill player Sam Iles.

In 2015 Clarkson grabbed a Port Adelaide fan by the throat briefly (right) as he crossed a walkbridge on the way back to the CBD, with the Hawks claiming “extreme provocation” from intoxicated fans.

Fined $20,000 by the AFL in 2017 after saying he couldn’t comment on the “disgraceful umpiring” in his team’s loss to Gold Coast.

In 2023 in his first year at North Melbourne Clarkson had to apologise to Channel 9 reporter Elisabeth Moss after he told her “your time will come” as she attempted to interview him over the Tarryn Thomas saga.

Calls Jimmy Webster a “c---sucker” after the Saints defender knocked out North Melbourne’s Jy Simpkin In a late hit during Sunday’s practice match at Moorabbin.

Matthew Lloyd, now a media commentator, has come out today saying that Clarkson is far too emotional in his reaction to incidents that take place on the football ground in the heat of the moment and following his most recent outburst last weekend Lloyd should be suspended rather than just fined.

The problem is he expects players to be disciplined, yet not himself

Ok one shouldn't go the early Crow, however unless the Bulldogs turn it around over the next three or four rounds I can see coach Luke Beveridge on his bike before we're even half-way through 2024.

So the boss of the AFL thinks it's a good idea for clubs to stop their players failing WADA drug tests, after the club tests them and they test positive, by faking injuries and not playing them. Interesting.LOL

Melbourne's Clayton Oliver unavailable for selection for a period during 2023 due to personal problems.

Clayton Oliver unable to train in Demons 2024 pre-season for a number of undisclosed reasons.

Clayton Oliver in doubt for Round 4 2024 due to sore hand.

Clayton Oliver possibly has a drug addiction.

reformed addict and champion jockey has slammed the AFL’s lenient illicit drugs policy and called for harsher sanctions to save players’ lives.

Jamie Evans – who “lost everything” after getting hooked on heroin – said addiction would take your “soul”.

“AFL players have got to be dealt with really harshly,” Evans told this masthead.

“Fine them substantially or rub them out for a couple of games.

“I’d fine them $10,000, that would make them wake up to themselves.

“The penalty at the moment is nothing and it gives them no incentive not to do it again.

“They think they’re protecting them, but they’re doing the opposite.

The Blues gifted Crows(SAGreatMate!) a win today...
It would be hard to imagine The Blues (5-0) and the Crows (0-5)! Ha!

Warm and fuzzy feeling for that ride back to SA.
Careful @ Bordertown, plenty of our good blokes waiting for you there!

When Port were well in front, I put up a comment: "Be patient. Port will run out of puff, the way they are going. The Pies will then run over the top."

Just as I predicted, it happened.

Port did the Pies a favour by resting Dixon...a bogey-man...and with no Finlayson, their mids were forced to go forward more often, to help with scoring.

1 first year player is making a huge difference, single handed lifting all those around him.
Offer him $1.5 million a year now for 5 years.
Don’t think you need to be a Rhodes scholar to work out who this is.

Down side is if he gets injured the whole team will be demoralised.
