The only thing I couldn't understand is why they punted the one game out out to the sticks, surely they could play all 3 Saturday match-ups on the Saturday at Adelaide Oval and just have the early Friday and mid-leg game on the Sunday at Norwood?

This has to be the worst umpired game I've ever seen. And that is saying something because there was a Richmond game a few years back which was abysmal.

Free kicks 17-6 in favour of Essendon, with some extremely contentious ones.

An Essendon player kicks Ash Johnson. Nicky Daicos gets punched in the stomach. No free either time.

 I f*cking love my team...

The umps finally stopped favouring Essendon and the Pies overran them.

Final count on free kicks...19-10 to the dirty Dons. And they were...

Nicky Daicos must  have just pipped Sidebottom for the medal. Both had blinders.

Moore, Noble, Pendles, IQ and Frampton also deserve special mentions...

Am a tad worried about our Bob, a life-long Essendon supporter.  His mob appeared to have the match in hand v the Mighty Woods, only to be swamped in the final quarter as reported above.
He's even older than me, so just hope he hasn't hasn't had a heart turn following the total turnaround.  Shocked

Tyra living the (SMiZE &) dream at Anzac Day clash

It was model behaviour, and brain power, when stunning Tyra Banks sashayed into a corporate box at the Anzac Day match at the MCG.

Supermodel Banks, the former America’s Next Top Model and Dancing With The Stars host, is in town to explore business opportunities for her ice cream brand, SMiZE & DREAM.

Given the horrific mark-up on food prices at the footy, Tyra might like the profit margins for an ice cream stall at the ’G.

But her understanding of Aussie Rules had everyone licked. Banks noted the “yellow team” was “hopeless” because they “weren’t getting the ball”.

She was talking about the umpires.

The 'yellow team' scored points in AFL fantasy for their assist in three Essendon goals.

When does what happens on the football field become assault?

ESSENDON midfielder Jye Caldwell has avoided suspension for striking Collingwood match-winner Nick Daicos on Anzac Day.

Caldwell punched Daicos in the chest after he was tackled to the ground by the young Magpies star.

The Match Review Officer graded the incident intentional contact, low impact and body contact, which drew a $3000 fine.

Although SC believes the highlight of the Anzac Day match between Collingwood & Essendon was the Collingwood win I believe the two videos below were the REAL highlights.

I agree with you, Bob. That rendition of the NZ anthem was glorious. And Darcy Moore's speech brought me to tears, just as it did to many others. He will become another inspirational Collingwood captain,  following in the hallowed footsteps of Buckley, Maxwell and Pendlebury.

We are a very lucky club to score players such as him.

So...Celtic fans can sing "You can shove the coronation up your arse...", but Pies fans cannot boo a player...because that player just happens to be indigenous..

 Seriously...

It had nothing to do with race...it was just because Franklin is...Franklin...

Do white players get the boo treatment?

If I was a Swans fan - I am actually - the band- I'd be booing him because he can't kick goals and always has a shocker in the big games for the Swans.Big smile

If I was a player I'd love to be booed.Evil Smile

Considering the Swans coach sent out his players to 'tag' Nick Daicos...and that 'tagging' was more akin to assault...they should just shut up about the booing.

Next time we meet them, I hope it's Papley who gets booed...the little twerp.

Why the feck is it wrong to boo anyone?

Some fans boo their own players.

Are the powers that be going to chuck out half the grandstand because they express an opinion?

If you are allowed to cheer, you are also allowed to boo...

the Collingwood army are ropable at the club apology. Here, one fan sums up what we all think..

Is Longmire going to apologise for saying they have to hurt Nick to stop him . What coach tells his players to go out and hurt a player to try and stop him . Three swan players ganging up on Nick, hope they’re proud of themselves . I think Longmire needs to apologise to our coach for such a disgusting statement . Booing is part of the game and nothing to do with racism, we always boo the best players, it’s a compliment . I love our coach and captain for what they said shows what they stand for, but as the Swans booed the Giants and Toby Greene the week before, where is their apology?

 Doesn't matter who they are...

Joel Sellwood got booed every time he ducked his head for a free. I don't think Sellwood is Aboriginal. Just a free-scabber.

Swans fans booed Jack Ginnivan, last year, when he hurt a hamstring. Did Longmire apologise for that? Of course not. Double standards, eh??

Pendles got booed at a presentation. Now that should not be tolerated. Booing on-field instances is one thing, presentations are another

The Swans are so far up themselves, they may never recover their heads....

I’ve got no doubt there is an element of racism in the booing. I’ve sat in enough crowds to hear the comments that often go with the booing.
In saying that the banning and woke driven statements from the club are a nonsense

Collingwood fans are really up in arms, now... here's a very good post...

I’m really disappointed that the club has taken this stance. Buddy being booed has nothing to do with the colour of his skin. The crowd booed Papley too, which also had nothing to do with the colour of his skin. Ginnivan being booed had nothing to do with the colour of his skin. I dislike Buddy Franklin. It’s because of his arrogant attitude and persona, and has nothing to do with the colour of his skin. There are many other players I dislike for the same reason (eg Papley!!).
I don’t agree with booing and I don’t think it’s a good look, but it is disgusting that this is being made about race. Fine, call out booing. But where was Gil’s statement all year calling out JHF’s booing? Where was his statement last year calling out the booing of Ginnivan? The AFL are the racists for making this about race. If our club was going to make a statement it needs to be about booing in general, and we certainly should not be the only club. Some of our players get booed every week too.
I don’t know how much longer I can function in society the way it’s going. Soon you’ll expect us to cheer when the other team kick a goal!!!! I don’t see black and white - I see footballers, I see people.
Are we really your 19th player or are we only when you want our money and it suits you? Because this to me feels like you’ve totally thrown us all under the bus. I would’ve thought after the two years we weren’t able to leave our homes and come and cheer you on you would understand that people want to go to the footy to cheer their team and try and put off the opposition.

Buddy is an arse...nothing to do with his skin colour.  He elbows opponents, then whinges when he isn't paid a free if someone touches him.

There are far worse things than booing said in my lounge-room, whenever he whinges or kicks a goal...none of which pertain to race. The big guy is quite simply a precious pet..and an arse...

I liked this one.

"You have now ignited the flame….be careful what you wish for.
Everybody knows the general public do not take kindly to being told what to do or how to behave—especially when they pay their hard earned money to attend.
We aren’t talking about racism or violence here…this is trivial and an issue the club didn’t need to comment on…you should have let the Swans wallow in their self pity for the phony tough guys that they are. "

"This is an embarrassing, over the top knee-jerk reaction from our club. Did you ask the members what we thought? You’re patronising our members and supporters and perpetuating the unfounded hate towards our club, which has done so much good work in recent years. There has been booing at every game and maybe the AFL should comment on this across the board rather than our club being made an example of yet again. The targeted treatment of Nick was far worse, you should be highlighting the poor behaviour of the Swans coach and players not supporters, for this! Absolutely fuming. "

Well I'm a Collingwood supporter and found the booing appalling.  Boo the umpire, boo players for behind the play hits, boo the odd defector but not throughout the whole game. However targeted booing of a single player such as Franklin simply isn't on imo and not much different from what Goodes had to put up with.

It started after he walked into the fracas around Daicos and used an elbow.

It had NOTHING TO DO WITH RACISM.

He is a little too fond of elbowing smaller players...

 Ask John Madgen...

Do you really think booing is a serious issue??

It's actually Sydney deflecting attention away from the bullying of Daicos ..and their poor form...

Now that should be apologised for...

The on-going saga of claims by First Nation players at Hawthorn of " historical inappropriate conduct " by former coaches Fagan & Clarkson has apparently stalled. In an article in this morning's press it has been suggested that "meditation" is now a priority, I do not know about you, but I doubt "meditation " will resolve the issue maybe a "mediation " might be more appropriate.Wink

I see Matthew Lloyd is on my side, re the booing.  Lloydy is always the voice of reason. Always logical. A very intelligent calm commentator. He said booing was part of the theatre of spectating...and Sunday's booing had nothing to do with racism...which it didn't.

As for Eddie McGuire...he blustered on, last night, like he was back in time, apologising for his foot-in-mouth comments during the Adam Goodes incident...and was petrified he'd say the wrong thing...again.

Now we have the GWS coach weighing in, because Toby Greene might get booed...again...if he plays.

But...North fans are being encouraged to boo JHF...again...this week...to put him off his game. Just for the record, JHF is not Indigenous, so it's okay too boo him.
