SC, according to my dictionary the definition of the word "surge is "upward movement ", that could mean anything in Collingwood's case.Smile

I really hope Lipinski goes well at Collingwood, he's a terrific fellow and working his butt off in this preseason. Definitely deserves a permanent midfield role.

We need a midfielder who'll work his butt off. This season is going to be very revealing for Collingwood. The dramas need to cease. DeGoey has put another dent in our depth and reputation. Frankly, I'll be glad to see the back of him.

Players like Steele Sidebottom, Will Hoskin-Elliott and the Brown boys need to show they deserve to be kept on the books, as well. Steele's reputation took a hammering last year. He never appeared to commit himself to the ball and mistakes surrounded his performances. Even Adams and Grundy need to put in more effort and accuracy. Opposing mids are sweating on Grundy's disposals from centre and any advantage he once gave us, has diminished. Adams has taken over from Treloar as the turnover king. His kicking accuracy is poor for a player of his supposed calibre.

Hopefully our very efficient back-line keep fit this year. Darcy Moore, Jeremy Howe, Brayden Maynard, Jack Crisp, Isaac Quaynor, John Noble and Jordan Roughead are a formidable seven, with Crisp possibly moving more into a rebound role this year. Maynard has the ability to go forward as well.

As for the youngsters they trialled last year... none really set the world on fire. Nick Daicos's acquisition will be watched with interest as we are definitely lacking spark.

And I know his retention caused comment, but I for one am happy to see Mason Cox sign on for another year. Used correctly, he frees up Jamie Elliott, Josh Daicos and Mihocek from extra attention and the forward line functions better.

We just need some class midfielders.

Coach loses his mind last night.

I read an interview with Lance Franklin in the paper a few days ago and he said that Bontempelli was the best player in the game by a margin. Is he right?

good to see. I must be the only Collingwood fan who doesn't hate the Blues.

Sam Docherty's return was possibly the catalyst. He had a blinder.

LOLLOL

Growing up in Sydney, I was never aware of the animosity between the two clubs. The only time I ever barracked against them was in the Malthouse/ Daisy Thomas years.

 I hate Richmond.

"Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge, who accused him of "gutter journalism" after team news was revealed early.

Beveridge and the Bulldogs later apologised for those comments."

What the coach meant to say was "gutter human".

Loved this from Carlton AFLW star Darcy Vescio on twitter

I hope old mate has his liquor licence. Needs to keep job opportunities open.

There's a lot of them around.  And he's paid the price.

However what he copped from Beveridge was still way out of line from a football perspective.

Was simply agreeing with TJ and adding there's a lot of other "gutter humans" out there too.  Fwiw.  Embarrassed

Freaking good game, tonight. The Pie boys showed some ticker, coming back after that spate of goals by the Saints.

A low-key coach who lets the ball go forward, rather than those irritating back-kicks.

One point...when Cox was rucking, the ball was coming out cleaner, our way. Grundy has definitely gone off the boil the last year or so.

Cox was quiet in general play, first half. Last quarter, best on ground.
