It is a long time ago, but I think it was Mike Willesee who interview Bill on TV just prior to the '72 election, and asked him questions about various areas of govt policy, for which Mc Mahon had come armed with bits of paper covering each likely topic, he could glance at before reciting his answer. At the end, Willesee posed a question as to what Bill's vision was for the future of Australia. An uncomfortable moment passes where Bill shuffles through his sheets looking for guidance as to a suitable answer, but finally has to confess, " I have nothing here about a vision for the future". Confused Beat that !

I've always thought that the lowest point in Australia's political history was a leader of the opposition party standing in front of a sign saying "ditch the witch " ,in reference to a current Prime Minister . That's what I will remember Abbot for .
No matter what you thought of your opponents politics that was as low as you can go ( I don't believe Gillard was a good prime minister btw ) .
In his speech he complained about the press trashing his character , the Libs are now a much better party with him off the scene .

I've been reading a few opinions from people in Asia (not media or politicians just randoms) who seem to think he was a good PM/leader. I guess it shows that he managed to fool some people. Or are they just clueless regarding the utter disaster that his PM-ship was?

Unfortunately for Tony his strong religious convictions had him trying to impose "rule like the POPE and the MONARCHY would have it".

I admire him for his strong religious belief but imposing them on a COUNTRY like AUSTRALIA is a bad fit.

Now we still have to put up with BERNARDI's religious fervour.

POLITICS and RELIGION never work as a mix.

If he was a horse you'd have to seriously consider putting him down:

Former prime minister Tony Abbott has warned an "extinction" crisis is facing Western nations if more children are not born, while praising the policies of Hungary's far-right leader Viktor Orban.

The Betoota Advocate is an Australian satirical news website and digital media company[1] that publishes articles on international, national, and local news. The site puts a comedic spin on current news topics and broader social observations.[2] The site is based in inner Sydney, but takes its name from the deserted regional town of Betoota, Queensland, and purports to be "Australia's oldest newspaper".

Several Betoota Advocate articles have been mistaken for real news items by major Australian media outlets. In November 2014, Weekend Today reported as fact a Betoota Advocate article about a Sydney city parking ranger who accidentally booked himself.[19] In January 2015, Deadspin reported that the 2016 Olympics would have 3-on-3 basketball, before realising that the source was a satire site.[20][21] In March 2015, 4BC reported as fact a Betoota Advocate article about a 78-year-old man fighting off a home invasion.[22]

The website has also attracted criticism over the way it has portrayed certain individuals and organisations. In December 2014, the RSPCA Australia criticised the site for publishing an article announcing that it was trialling having veterinarians present at dog fights in Queensland without making it clear that the story was satire, as well as including made-up quotes attributed to them in the article.[23] In October 2015, former Wallabies captain John Eales criticised The Betoota Advocate for an article attributing to him a quote that referred to Australian-born fans of the All Blacks as being "worse than ISIS".[24][25] In February 2017, Queensland MP Leanne Donaldson said that the site had "missed the mark" by making light of Bundaberg's problems with alcohol fuelled violence after it published an article suggesting that the town would be building a giant statue of a black eye.

Of course she's right macca, but the Rudderless Rabble can't resist the chance to jump to attention and vilify her for a statement of fact.

Albo is meeting all of the standards set by Bullgelati Bill - he could well be Opposition Leader for decades!!!Clap
In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!
