Smith not reviewing was strange for him, normally he reviews every LBW no matter what.

Had Smith reviewed, then the "Out" decision is changed to "Not Out"....the ball hit Smith outside the line of off-stump and Smith played a shot. Thats Not Out. Oh well.

The only negative anybody could have about this tournament is the Matthew Hayden commentary. Boy oh boy he is annoying.

Cricket World Cup is a bit like the Rugby League and Union versions, one team (OK 2 in Union) always winning it with the rest just turning up to make the numbers up for TV purposes.
I suspect that over time this 50 over World Cup will become an anachronism, teams playing it for tradition moreso than anything else, with the T20 version becoming the pre-eminent tournament. The T20 has already had as many different champions and as many nations make its final as the ODI version in 4 fewer editions, fans want to see competion not dominance. (except the dominant teams fans of course) Still, caps a great year for Pat Cummins, I'm sure he would have liked a bit more, to have won the Ashes series and to have got a result in the 4th test in India but he has still led the side to retaining the Ashes, the World Test Championship and now the World Cup. Suspect we may see a changing of the guard in the Australian white ball squads after this tournament, David Warner won't be around much longer at his age but even Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell (all 38 @ next WC) Mitchell Starc (37 @ next WC) perhaps even Alex Carey (36 @ next WC) may not be around beyond the 2025 Champions Trophy, if they even make it that far, as CA may see it as an opportunity to bring the next lot through before heading to Southern Africa to defend the title. Especially considering that all could make significantly more money playing the T20 circuit over the next few years.

Can you imagine a huge stadium being named after a prime minister in australia?

The magnificent Manuka Oval in Canberra at least has two grandstands named for two Bob's, ie Menzies and Hawke. No guessing which is the Members Stand.
![]() Central to its reputation as one of the premier venues in the country is the regular hosting of Prime Minister XI matches against international touring sides. Former PMs Robert Menzies and Bob Hawke both have stands named after them in an effort to extend the relationship with the political history of the area. |

Just seen the photo of Richard Marles hogging the limelight in India. Bugger off. ![]() Hang on, if Marles is in India and Albo is wherever he is who the hell is the acting PM? ![]() |

Hogging the limelight at international sporting events has ever been de rigeur for Australian politicians.
What does surprise is that there's so many people who for some misbegotten reason believe the effective machinery of government grounds to a sudden halt if the PM or a responsible Minister are out of the country.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything, it's too late to stop reading it.

Almost as amusing as those who's opinion of the necessity of such activities is determined entirely by the party of the minister in discussion and their own political leanings.

This Marles is the same bloke on another overseas trip sat for breakfast at a hotel and paid $20.44 for a fresh orange juice then $26.00 for a “ power bowl “ , featuring protein and vegetables plus 2 eggs for $34.00 then a cup of coffee for $15.72 then rounded the bill up to $115.00 for a tip then went back to his room and got a laundry bill for $251.00 which included his soiled underwear and dirty socks. Will be interesting how much on similar expenses he runs up on his trip to India.

Bob, surely you're aware virtually no-one gives a flying fork for what Marles allegedly spends on breakfast and dry cleaning.

SC, Okay I will forget what he spends on breakfast and dry cleaning however Marles clearly shows he is living off the hogg. What about the cost of him flying to India in the first place and why did he even go the ODI final, how many of our team would know him from your good self ? Okay sometime in his youth he may have played cricket for Geelong Thirds as an opening bowler, but that does not entitle him to fly off to India at taxpayers' expense.

He didn't travel to India just to go to the cricket final and get his undies washed.
