The below is MY opinion, based on what I know of methodology and practices of over 100 years that has stood the ultimate test (success over time). always do your own homework such as viewing all available test results and xrays, and as always do a visual, what looks great in a pedigree does not always equate to a postcard picture     Day one, 2026 Adelaide Magic Millions

Thoroughbred Pedigree Analysis Report

Lot-by-Lot Evaluation Based on Vuillier/ Aga Khan  Dosage, Pedigree Profile, Female Family Index, and Vratio (Aga Khan / Vuillier Stamina/ Speed Ratios)

Introduction

This report presents a comprehensive pedigree analysis of horses listed in the fifth table by lot number, using only the data provided in the supplied tables. The objective is to evaluate each horse against established criteria: Vuillier dosage, triad speed profile, family index, and Vratio (where available). The assessment aims to identify Group One racing suitability, optimum distance preferences, and general pedigree strengths, supporting breeders, analysts, and racing professionals in informed selection and breeding decisions. The methodology strictly references the tables provided, avoiding unsupported claims or external data.

Criteria Overview

The analysis draws on four primary criteria:

  • Vuillier Dosage: Indicates distance preference and Group One (G1) potential. Optimum is below 500 for stamina and versatility; below 1000 is desirable for G1 winners at 1600–3200m; 500–1049 suits middle distances; higher values favour sprinting.
  • Pedigree Profile: Speed aptitude across early, cruising, and closing phases. Balanced or extreme closing figures which signal versatility and strong finishing ability, ideal for staying races.
  • Family Index: Measures speed-stamina balance in the female family. 1.00 is balanced; below 1.00 leans towards stamina; above 1.00 towards speed. Index does not affect G1 potential but guides distance suitability.
  • Vratio: Not listed for individual lots for Day one in the provided tables; thus, not evaluated, but included in aptitudinal outlooks for all lots
  • Sire and Dam Dosages: Not presented; only horse dosage is assessed, but sire and dam dosages considered, therefore, only horses with favourable dam and sire criteria included in list

Synopsis

Analysis of the provided lots reveals a clear distinction between stamina-oriented and speed-oriented pedigrees. Horses with Vuillier dosage below the maximum, balanced or high closing pedigree profiles, and family indexes below 1.00 are strongly favoured for potential for staying and middle-distance top class Group contests. the cut and paste did not work on the whole doc

Notably, Lots 97, 109, 123, 141, 156, 185, and 195 demonstrate optimum profiles for Group racing, with high stamina, versatile speed, and pedigree strength for distances exceeding 1800m. Extreme closing speed further enhances finishing ability, a key attribute for elite staying events.

Conversely, lots with higher dosage and family indexes (e.g., Lot 51, Lot 54, Lot 76) also show sprint Group race aptitude but may lack the stamina and balanced profiles required for ultimate success. the criteria applied from the tables provide robust guidance for race selection and breeding strategy.

Conclusion

The pedigree strengths of the analysed lots are most pronounced in those with low Vuillier dosages, balanced profiles with strong closing speed, and family indexes below 1.00, marking them as top prospects for Group One staying and middle-distance races. Key recommendations are to prioritise these lots in breeding and selection programs targeting elite racing potential. Lots with sprint-oriented profiles may excel in short-distance events in the top level

Top Prospects: Lot 97, Lot 109, Lot 123, Lot 141, Lot 156, Lot 185, Lot 195.

Key Recommendation: Focus breeding and selection strategies on horses with low dosage, balanced triads, and stamina-oriented family indexes for the highest likelihood of Group One performance.

The Vratio’s have been calculated as well and included in the projected aptitudinal range

Synopsis

The analysis reveals clear trends across the lots, with Lots 219, 231, 303, 307, and 351 exhibiting strong classic and stamina profiles, supported by both their own and their dams’ Vuillier points, Profiles, and family indices. These horses are notably suitable for Group One contests, particularly over classic distances (2000–2400m and beyond). Miler profiles (Lots 220, 242, 294, 305, 350) show moderate to high potential for group racing, with balanced speed and stamina, while sprinter profiles (Lots 232, 299, 368) display some Group suitability, mainly confined to shorter distances and lower group levels. Across all lots, dam influence is a critical factor, with pedigree depth enhancing black type potential. The most promising G1 prospects are lots with Vuillier points within the relative limits, classic pedigree profiles, and supportive dam figures, and Vratio figures indicating both stamina and versatility for elite racing.

Take2 has done a heap of work and it'll be really great if some of his selections prove to be superior performers.

Regarding his Day 1 shortlist can't help noticing that six of the seven are NSW or Victorian bred.

To be honest many in MM Adelaide that come from other states couldn't make it into the Inglis Classic or Premier sales at very least, for various reasons such as lack of commercial appeal but equally likely physical or associated defects.  For instance two Arrowfield entries that Take2 has highlighted, namely Lots 97 and 185, would on pedigree have been entitled to selection for Classic or Premier.  So why are they in South Australia?

All the above to highlight the motherhood statement that other factors need come into play when assessing future prospect, any number of which could be helpful or otherwise regarding my mate's shortlist.

I did notice Lot 1001 a very strong looking Grunt colt bought by Sheamus Mills for $10000, has the same bottom line as his sires' which could be interesting as it's her 1st foal by him [I think]
It takes a wise man a lifetime to grow a tree and a fool five minutes to kill one.

Indeed SC, that was the case with our Boy Elvis, who went all the way from Tarcutta or sumwear like dat to Adelaide, prob the only reason we got him was becos he was a windsucker. which never hindered his performance anyway. i think more than a few get either admitted or otherwise to any Sales throughout the country is mostly governed by the position of the breeder in the pecking order of things

Common trend for the Adelaide MM? Only 24% of the lots (101 of 412) are presented from SA based farms.
