I'm sitting here in Vegas and I was wondering why they renamed McCarron Airport to Harry Reid....

Clear as day that they wanted him to see the lights of Vegas before he passed away.

Las Vegas Airport officially changed its name on Tuesday to Harry Reid International Airport, 73 years after being named for Nevada's Sen. Patrick McCarran.

In February, the Clark County Commission unanimously approved renaming the airport after reports of McCarran's "history of perpetuating racism, xenophobia and antisemitism" began to surface, The Associated Press reported. The airport had been named after McCarran since 1948, due to the senator's reputation as a vocal advocate for the aviation industry.

I've been in LV now 15 years and one of the reasons I chose this when I was working was the quick access, accessible location, logistics and surprisingly fairly good (at least for the US) public transportation access (which is not really well publicized).

This airport has always a step ahead of the rest in the US because of the amount people and $$$$$ that passthru it. The only folks who had a hold of this place were the taxi cab lobby which paid these crooked politicians never to have a decent rail connection. They built a monorail outside the strip which defaulted and no one uses. It could of been sooooo much better when the city was just expanding.

Harry Reid and his cronies laid the groundwork for this city to be locked in an automobile gridlock where rather than investing in an efficient public transport system. Luckily the airport structure was envisioned before him by some other politician - who questionably should of remained known for what he did.

In 1954, Betty White was criticized after having Arthur Duncan, a Black tap dancer, on her show. Her response: "I'm sorry. Live with it." She then gave Duncan even more airtime. The show was canceled soon after. Rest well, Betty.

It’s a relief to know that she didn’t suffer, still had all her marbles and just drifted off to sleep peacefully.

Good to hear it was peaceful.

I came across Gilda Radner for the first time a couple of days ago - what a talent, and similar to Betty White because she was just a lovely lady. Really sad story of her dying of undiagnosed cancer at 42, so Betty did alright.

Lived a full and entertaining life.  You could always count on her to steel the show (even in her 90's).  The world is a lesser place for losing her.

 my children are in mourning.

One texted back "NOOOOO" when I sent her the message of Betty's death.

 The other hasn't stopped crying.

The trouble is...Betty was very like their grandmother...and they feel they lost her twice in two years.

 Unhappy
