Holy shyte. Two big surprises. Caerless Choice being so close in the run and Suncraze actually winning. I'd torn my ticket up at the 200m. Don't want that over again.

Jenny Graham pair out of Country Championships

Tom Baddock

https://www.racenet.com.au/news/jenny-graham-pair-out-of-country-championships-20180321

Port Macquarie trainer Jenny Graham has notified stewards that two of her gallopers will be withdrawn from the Country Championships series due to injury.

Graham filled the placings in the Port Macquarie Qualifier last month when Victorem beat home Awesome Pluck and Portatorio in the stable trifecta that Graham described as her biggest moment in racing.

However, on Wednesday Graham advised Stewards that Awesome Pluck and Portatorio would be withdrawn from the series due to injury.

An endoscopic examination and blood tests have revealed Awesome Pluck was suffering from inflammatory airway disease and he’s been spelled, while Portatorio has been retired after an ultrasound found a bowed tendon on the right fore following a gallop on Monday.

“It’s very disappointing,” Graham said. “Awesome Pluck has had a cough and had been losing weight.

“He just needs a course of antibiotics and a break and he’ll be back but Portatorio has been retired after bowing a tendon at track work.

“It is not an easy game but hopefully Victorem will keep going forward, we’ve been dealt our cards and now we just have to deal with it.”

Victorem, a $6 chance, is on the second line of betting for the Country Championships Final at Randwick on April 7.

Fourth placegetter in the Port Macquarie qualifying race Shelly Beach Roach was offered and accepted a place in the $500,000 final.

Super lead up run just now by Manhattan Mist on the heavy at Gosford. Carried 60.5kgs and held them all out. Yet another win to the red (approaching white) hot Waugh stable.

A race of many chances and we'll need to watch trends early.

Kool Vinnie fav at $5.50. Beaten by barrier at Wyong and should have run at least third. Will enjoy the roomy Kembla straight.

Fun Tickets $17 drawn the outside which according to R&S has yet to win albeit from only 8 starters. Probably tails the field and is saved for a late run.

Mandylion $7.50 was excellent behind Luvaluva in a much tougher event at Kembla.

Man of Choice $13 is better than these if he's right

You simply cannot ignore Kim Waugh's stable, Hand From Above $7, last start city winner.

And it doesn't end there.

DUBBO SUNDAY 25 MARCH

Good luck if you're having a bet. Haven't heard of any of them. Must be a limited number of trainers out there. Don't think the final winner will be coming from this lot.

Dreadlock ran a couple of placings at Morphettville under previous ownership and really should be too good here despite an ordinary run first up. Does have an aversion to the winning post though.

A question - if Ferniehirst gets DQ'd because of her positive swab before Saturday, does Unbiased get a run as 1st emergency or does Iggy The Moocher get elevated into the field as he will then have finished 2nd in the Grafton qualifier?

Here is your answer

for FINAL

Order of Emergencies Up to seven emergencies will be declared following acceptances. These will comprise the highest placed runner from each of the regional qualifying races. In the event of a scratching, accompanied by a veterinary certificate, the emergency runner from the scratched runner’s regional qualifying race will be elevated into the field

If you want to take it a step further...on the "FERNIEHURST predicament

if SNITZ scratched or IGGY scr before final scr time

then UNBIASED would go in,on the basis of being the highest rated emergency.

Racing NSW Stewards are in receipt of certification from two Official Racing Laboratories, namely the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory and Racing Analytical Services Limited, that the pre-race blood sample taken from the Paul Smith-trained Ferniehirst after finishing 2nd in the NRRA Country Championships Qualifier conducted at Grafton on 11 March 2018, has been found to contain naproxen.

An inquiry into the findings of both laboratories has been scheduled to be conducted at 10am on Thursday, 5 April 2018 at Coffs Harbour Racecourse.

Naproxen is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by conditions such as arthritisankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, bursitis, gout, or menstrual cramps.

The delayed-release or extended-release tablets are slower-acting forms of naproxen that are used only for treating chronic conditions such as arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. These forms will not work fast enough to treat acute pain.
