Blanket finish in the Wagga qualifier as might be expected with fav Oh So Hazy beautifully ridden by Brooke Sweeney holding on from the big finish of Bennelong Dancer,  and Class Clown third. Don't think either will figure at Rwick, certainly not the winner.

Plenty of feedback about the problem of trainers potentially dominating qualifiers. Dunn only got 4+3E which relieves the pressure. Handicapper says only one can win but I'm sure trainers have other views.

It seems a CANBERRA trainer can get around the rules by having joint stables.

For example,MAT DALE has stables at MORUYA and CANBERRA

and Joseph/Jones have stables at SAPPHIRE COAST/CANBERRA

and allowed to run in PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

as seen by J/J having a runner in WYONG PROVINCIAL and DALE having one at HAWKESBURY (nominated) on SATURDAY.

Here's the rule allowing PROVINCIAL ENTRY

quote

Horses trained by a trainer who holds a licence to train at one of eight designated country racing regions in NSW and at a provincial, metropolitan, Canberra or interstate racecourse are not eligible to compete in The Country Championships

Could a country trainer enter a horse for the Prov champs? Have never looked, just assumed it didn't happen

Have backed topweight Uptown Lad at $4.80 ew. Think he runs 1-2-3 (obviously). Barrier means he goes back I hope.

Just watched the replay. Hope you jumped on Sunline. Was always confident in the run of a 1-2-3 because of the long straight and his big finish but wasn't sure on the line. Cherry on top of a handy day and finally cracked WillHill to boot. Seems a good day all round again for forumites, glad to be part of this time after the messy effort last weekend.

Yes mate I was all over him. Great result and an awesome win. Pace was on but still a huge effort. Backed off the map in the end so we knew we were there to win.

With Northam claiming 2 top country jocks for Scone one would have to think he and Robert have a decent chance with No 8 ???
I do like Jason,s at Gosford.   He always seems to place his horses well, and while they dont always win for the punters they do pick up prize money for the owners most times.

Northam did say My Tagoson (#8 with Robert Thompson) was probably his best chance in the Scone race.

Per 3BM in another thread:

Uptown Lad - Spelled And Out Of Sydney Autumn Carnival.

Trainer Kim Waugh has reported to Racing NSW Stewards that Uptown Lad (a qualifier in the Provincial Championships Final) has sustained an injury to its off side tendon and has been spelled.

As a result, Uptown Lad will not take its place in the Provincial Championships Final.

At the completion of the Provincial Championship Qualifiers, the highest-rated fourth placegetter from the series will replace Uptown Lad in the Final.

Surely one of the half dozen emergencies will suffice?

Expect so. "Highest-rated" is a worry, highest rated on the qualifying runs should get it. Could be a marginally higher rater struggling 4th placegetter otherwise.

Good job AA. Plenty thought he was the one. Think they said he was sweating up - as were quite a few - but he was never in it from the barrier. It was like the  charge of the Light Brigade early. Your bloke finished off okay, only 2.8l back and well ahead of plenty of others. Gosford with big fields is a recipe for a mess.

On pacers seem to be to the fore at Scone. Makes it tough for Caerless Choice I suspect.
