Racing to Win is a standout imo. I'm looking for a quinella. I do agree with you i think DoubleDare. Bernicia should run a top race. Hasn't ran over the trip since the Arrowfield which in hindsight was a good run as she has never liked the wet. Bart will have High Cee spot on and should run a cracker too.

Extra X added thanks Nathan.

The Doomben Cup is the race I backed my very first winner, Perlin.

Good race but anybody backing RTW for 2000m has to be braindead.

pretty average race.  Agree with Wortel, no RTW for me.

Douro Valley shouldn't be troubled by the wide gate and this horse has surprised before...

Unfortunatly its a bit of a poor betting race too, i would need somewhere around $13 RTW to consider him. Bernica E/W and a saver on Sir Slick as he might get a decent run in front.

DV the class at the distance, not sure hes anything else but a melb horse though.
Bossys mount get in well but cant see her getting over the top of these guys.

Surely if right Douro just wins?

His G1 spring performances should be the biz.

Triple Honour for me, i think hes looking for this distance this prep and has D Oliver aboard.
Also think Sir Slick is a real chance, last 2 runs very good and  was pressured in both starts,
If he gets a soft run look out.

Agree wort, I was being facetious about Sir Slick winning, trying to implement my point of how weak the race is for a Cup!

High Cee can win this. Douro the obvious class, but High Cee is my tip.
Istidaad kicking strongly, he's 2 lengths clear, Crawl gets out from a well back and old Mustard is grinding home... Hang on, Treasury Notes gets out from the back and she'll blouse them all!

Sir Slick 5 wins at 2000m and a 3 lenth 5th in last years Singapore Gold Cup at 2000m
Not saying hell win but hes not hopeless in such a poor field for this level.

I actually like this field, maybe I am crazy...

Pravana is bred to appreciate further, and the way she arrives just in time indicates to me that the trip will be right up her alley.

Markus Maximus is largely untapped, and he could definitely play a part in this race.

High Cee at his best could do something, while I thought Triple Honour was a great run in the Queen Elizabeth.

Others who could figure are Sir Slick, Veloce Bella, Racing to Win (can't have him at 2020m) and Bernicia.

But I'm going with Pravana.

A good friend of mine bloody loves Markus Maximus and has backed him every start, I realy hope he doesn't win or I'll have to hear about it for the next 3 months! lol

How is Racing to Win not the obvious class?

I will be putting High Cee in all my multiples thats for sure. Barts in unbelievable form, usually picking up one winner a meeting of late. If you go off his 4th to Chasm two starts ago, he could go close.

Okay here is where I get some flak (shot down, ridiculed) for going against my system.

Racing To Win, Sir Slick and Douro Valley are the only ones to of won a wfa group 1 race (do not know about the NZ horses except SS).

Now out of these there are question marks on RTW DISTANCE and SS class. So that leaves Douro Valley as the bet, right, wrong.

He goes in our top 3 at 3rd, but we have to take into account the improvement in the 3yo's.

Now I have been saying that the 3yo's are not up to our older horses (especially at wfa) this season but with Metal Bender and Predatory Pricer in the Queen Elizabeth and Duporth winning last week, we now have to consider them in a field which does not have Maldivian, Theseo, Tuesday Joy or any other top 10 wfa horse.

I can not believe MD is third favourite or favourite in some agencies, the best horse she has beaten home is Nothin Leica Cat and she is a maiden. So you are absolutely desperate if you take anything under $14 for her.

The other 3yo's however are right in it. Markus Maximus is a last start winner, who is fit and the form has stood up very well. The run before his derby win was also excellent in a race where the form has stood up outstandingly, he goes in as our 2nd selection.

The other 3yo Izonit ran a great race in the Hollindale and he should get a good run if can get a run, he is our top selection.

Throw in Fulmonti (top win at the coast), Cape Breton (flying and has performed in the past in Brisbane) and Prima Nova (can not win but will be somewhere in the finish) then that is your trifecta.

Izonit-Markus Maximus-Douro Valley-Fulmonti-Cape Breton-Prima Nova.

Those are the six with rough hopes to RTW AND SS (that means if we get the right prices $10 RTW - $12 SS, we will be backing them).

It is now up to you out there to decide the order of our six or eight selections.
Remember, it might take intelligence to be smart , but it takes experience to be wise

We like Racing To Win. This race is suited to good milers mostly which gives him the edge over Douro Valley. Izonit and Pravana the dangers

Michael Walker is riding in Australia for the first time (I think) since his controversial Melbourne stint in 2004. He has two good rides in Juice and Mirkola Lass (she is not out of this race), and I hope he makes a winning return.

Mirkola Lass looked like she returned to her best in her last start.  She had no right to get 2nd especially considering the runs weren't coming out wide at all that day.

Here is the vid ( she angles out to be the widest runner half way up the straight from about 3rd last)http://www.nzracing.co.nz/Images/Video/200905/20090502CANT09_BB_600.asx

And she did beat Theseo home over this distance two years ago.

She probably needs 2400m to show her best, but the more I look at her the more I think she is in this with a massive chance.

I've been waiting for her to run in the Melbourne Cup, I reckon this year might be the year, if she runs well here.

And Michael Walker is one of the best jockeys going around, much more mature than his last Australian sojourn.

In fact, I now have my top 4.

Pravana
Mirkola Lass
Markus Maximus
Triple Honour

Best of the rest, High Cee.
