It’s been nearly 3 months since the stable had a runner.

Finally they’ve nominated a horse - Exemplar in the 1720m open Hcp at Fkemington in Saturday.

Well the track should be soft so there should be no complaints about a hard track

All I can think of is those poor horses who looked so uncomfortable and in pain that were forced to run. One is now listed as dead, one is retired with a tendon injury and the other ‘Transferred’

Poor horses.

His established stocks are looking a bit thin after the retirements of Rekinfling, Almandin & The Taj Mahal.

Homesman & J.Vermeer should still be contenders this season, and hopefully he gives Orderofthegarter & Venice Beach proper campaigns. Not sure about Yucatan.

There are a few interesting in the team that haven’t raced here yet, including Nelson, Kenya & Douglas MacArthur. Nelson ran 8th in the Arc, beaten only 4.5 Lens behind Enable!!

But who knows if we’ll even see any of these horses even make it to the track on race day!

Douglas McArthur = pulled up lame today

Yucatan = pulled up lame last night

Jo Vermeer = injured & our for the Spring

What is going on at Macedon Lodge?

With the exception of Homesman, it seems like Lloyd’s locally based stable is full of crocks & cripples. Oh well, the O’Briens will be bringing his real Cups contenders shortly.

Wouldn't touch their horses with a barge pole, I'll give Exemplar a tick though.

Nelson is a very interesting runner for the stable in the Coongy Hcp today.

By Frankel out of an Irish Oaks winner.

G3 winner over 1600m as a 2yo
G3 winner over 2000m as a 3yo

Last start he ran 8th in the 2018 Arc beaten only 4.5 Len behind Enable & Sea of Class.

He doesn’t hold a Melb Cup entry but would be great to see him do well today & maybe be a Sandown Classic type next month.

A very lean Spring for Lloyd in 2019, with Homesman in the Feehan Stks beng his only winner.   He doesn’t even have a runner in the Zipping Classic, which is rare.

Makes me wonder whether the Liam Howley era will continue much longer? Or will he join the ranks of ex-Lloyd private trainers like Brad Mazarto & Myles Plumb?

As the good book states, you shall reap what you sow.

If you just want success in one horse race every year then you will be disappointed more often than not.

Here is a guy who has the horses who are bred to dominate the Tancred, Sydney Cup, Auckland Cup and Caulfield Cup, but he only cares about one race.

There are at least four group 1 wins for him every year if he wanted.

But as is stated care factor is about zero or less.
Remember, it might take intelligence to be smart , but it takes experience to be wise

Start a thread to talk about how much you don't care about the stable and leave this one for discussing the stable then.

Fawkner (a 6th and a 10th) and Almandin when he won are the only local trained top 10 place getters since Green Moon won and Mourayan ran 7th in 2012, interesting stats. In that time he has won a few other races such as the Metropolitan Hcp, Sydney Cup and the Tancred along with the Zipping Classic, interesting info.

I’ll never forget the day I saw one of his horses in the mounting yard.
Was clearly lame, however was still allowed to run.
Broke down a couple of starts later.

He has several horses with issues that looked extremely average this spring.

And I remember heaps of people (not on this forum) who said Lloyd would equal or break Bart's Melbourne Cup record. Appears unlikely at this stage.
Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

Spot on with this info. It shows Lloyd can win other races apart from the Melbourne Cup. But he is obssessed with one race
