It was a great effort by Mystic Journey. She has that real will to win.
Is a star in the making.
Could someone post her pedigree page here. It looks amazing on paper from a line breeding perspective

Bargain Basement Tassie Purchase Romps in Moloney Stakes

Mark Smith - Sunday September 23

The latest rising star from Tasmania, the 3yo filly Mystic Journey, blew away her opponents in Saturday's Listed Jim Moloney Stakes at Caulfield.

Coming off a luckless fifth at Moonee Valley on August 25, Mystic Journey was settled just off the pace by Anthony Darmanin to power away by two and a quarter lengths from Spanish Whisper (Lope de Vega) with Tahitian Dancer (Dawn Approach) another neck away third. (photo Grant Courtney)

Trainer Adam Trinder said connections would have to decide whether to stump up a $27,000 late entry fee for the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield next month.

"We came here with guarded confidence," Trinder said.

"She was 1400 metres for the first time in her career.

"She doesn't hold a Guineas entry but we've ticked off a box at 1400 metres so we'll have to sit down and have a discussion whether we put in a late entry.

"That's obviously a different class, Group 1 class compared to the (Listed) stakes race today, but she was good and strong today and It's a terribly pleasing result."

With her second stakes win, Mystic Journey advancer her record to 5 wins from 8 starts with earnings of $194,850.

That's a grand return on the $11,000 her trainer needed to secure the daughter of Needs Further out of the Armidale Stud draft at the 2017 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale.

She is the best of three winners out of the Colombia mare White Gold who is a sister to the stakes-placed Oronero.

A full-sister to Mystic Journey made $55,000 to the bid of Ross Wilkinson at this year's Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale.

White Gold was not covered in 2016 but visited Fighting Sun last spring.

Mainland breeders could be enticed to mate in Tasmania following the eye catching performances in Melbourne in recent weeks of Mystic Journey, a 3-year-old filly in the second crop Needs Further, an Encosta de Lago sire, who has won six of nine starts.

In the stables at Spreyton,Tasmania of one of the State’s most respected trainers, Adam Trinder, Mystic Journey at her last two outings has won stakes at Caulfield (the Listed Jim Moloney over 1400m, by 2.25 lens September 22) and Moonee Valley (the Group 2  Aquis Farm Fillies Classic 1600m, October 27).

Bred by R. A. Zito, P. Zito, R. Cichello, R. Cichello, J. Button and D Button and purchased for $11,000 by Trinder at the Tasmanian yearling sales, she is the third winner for White Gold (NZ), a daughter the Zabeel sire Columbia and L’Anello, a mare by the Blushing Groom sire Groom Dancer.

A feature of Mystic Journey’s maternal pedigree is that Columbia’s dam is the phenomal broodmare Eight Carat and White Gold’s third dam, L’Anno D ‘Oro, is a sister to Habibti, an exceptional female European sprinter. Habibti is a half-sister to Eight Carat.

A resident at one of Tasmania’s longest established and successful studs, the Whishaw family’s Armidale at Carrick, the sire Needs Further was bred by Gooree Stud at Mudgee NSW and went to the races for them five times for three wins, including the Group 3 Carbine Stakes over 1600m at Randwick. A 16.2 hands bay, he is the result of the mating of Encosta de Lago with Crowned Glory, a top juvenile performed Danehill half-brother to Hallowed Crown produced by Significant Moment, a Bletchingly half-sister to Zabeel.

Besides Mystic Journey, runners by Needs Further (2018 fee $5,500) have included Pateena Arena (dam by imported Danehill sire Ladoni), one Tasmania’s best fillies (two stakes, also successful Tasmanian Thousand Guineas); Our Long Sali (Last Tycoon, won Tasmanian Magic Millions 2yo Classic), Jubiliance (Tough Speed; won Tasmanian Magic Millions 3yo Classic) and Triple Strip (End Sweep (USA), triple city 2yo winner, third Tasmanian Magic Millions 2yo Classic).

Interesting to see his second stakes winner today out of the same female line as the first stakes winner.  This one is out of Oh So Gold the daughter of White Gold dam of Mystic Journey.

Now we all know that this is the female line of Octagonal who as a son of Zabeel was outstanding.  You can't tell me this wasn't deliberate with Needs Further having Zabeel's dam as his 3rd dam and White Gold being a daughter of Zabeel's son Colombia.  Nice little mix the stud has got going there.

I don't want to rain on the parade but be careful.

Currently per starters 43.9% so not spectacular.

Sure has a good one or two. Don't fall for the three card trick.

If I had a few mares they would not be going to Needs Further at this stage.

I believe if Ned was on the mainland there would be a lot of mare owners eager to give him a try.  Underated, low fee stallions can often deliver a smokey, like M.J.  or the Slipper winner yesterday from a 7 thousand service fee.

a.e.i. of over 70 grand off a $3300 service fee. nearly 10% stakeswinners . dominating the stakes races in Tassie.
Point taken re the lowish strike rate but its often the case until they have bene around a while. it seems to pick up once the average ones finally pick up a race. the other thing to take into account is the quality of mares going to him. Sadly Tassie is way behind . our broodmare band has dropped in number and quality owing to the poor sale returns and poor prizemoney. just hope the bonus scheme lifts investment and quality. Trainers such as Adam Trinder and Scotty Brunton are purchasing and supporting the scheme. only time will tell..... It is also possible that he may drop off as he only managed 99 mares in the last two years . kicking ourselves a bit as we rang to change Sh'Bourne Spirit service from A.E. to Ned but we were too late. A.E. is throwing nice types however I think another Ned would have sold extremely well for us. Always learning.....
