Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. Harness racing will ban use of whips in training and races.

If harness racing is serious about welfare , they need to look at whats happening to the horses when they finish racing.  Thats becoming more and more of a point with the activists. Banning the whip is just something to look good in the public eye.
