My favourite bit is when the "teacher" or whatever he is tells them that a muslim "without a fistful of beard" is just like "a serpent or (or?) a snake"... and then answers a question of whether non-believers have an intellect with "No."

Top marks for exaggeration PT> but I too went through what you describe. Nuns , Brothers and later the Private School System.
Our parents usually accepted that harder line by teachers as discipline.   We did learn tho and the cane was a swipe across the fingers ( never heard of any injuries )
Schools of today are fkd for the very reason that NO discipline exists.
We can't have the cake & eat it too & may I say , you present as having benefited big time by that very style of education.

My old man recalls a very earnest priest explaining to a group of boys which comic books were venial sins (your Archie and the like) as opposed to your Batman which was of course a mortal sin.

My dear old grandmother also recalls getting the snot beaten out of her for writing with the left. "Sinister" apparently.

I saw it more as evidence of some kind of victim mentailty, complete with fantasyland exaggerations. Explains a bit.

You should have a very enlightening opinion on this one Stayer.

I may say I had 6 brothers and all accepted the discipline dished out by our respected School Teachers, who may have "caned" us one day then gave their time to coach our sporting teams the next .
Teachers today are reported as more in fear of the lack of in control than anything else.

Did the priests only favour the pretty boys at your school?

ThreeBears would do well to take notice of this warning after his "bed wetting loser" and similarly unhelpful descriptions of those with whom he disagrees.

Well he had me fooled.

He looks just like a Greek wrestler I saw back in the days of Bulldog Brower. Spiros Arion has nothing on him.

Is Sub seeking some military style training.

We better be nice to him when he comes back from Iran.

I hope he went by car.
