Following my outstanding success with my Events based Omen bets....Ramadan and 2 from 2 at Canterbury and 1 from 1 at Eagle Farm for Events Based Omen Tips I have decided to go with a World Events Omen Tip Of The Day or WEOTOTD...rols off the tongue doesn't it?

July 13 is Montenegro National Day.
Montenegro means Black Mountain.

There are only two horses racing today anywhere with Black in their name.
The most apt is BLACK ROMEO given that Montenegro is just across the Adriatic Sea from Italy and is a major source of illegal immigration to Italia.
So there you have it....

BELMONT R6 #2 BLACK ROMEO

He is 19-4-4 career and 5-2-2 over today's 1400.
He won here over this distance from the 3 after drifting from 2/1 to 13/4.
Today's 12 gate isn't a help as he likes to race in the first 5 or 6 and the inside 5 gates over the 1400 have a really good strike rate at Belmont.
He's never far away and beat the 4, 7 and 10 last start.
Pateman is agood jockey.
So he should go well.

Don't forget Rowdy Belle Sandown R1. I'm sure the women involved in the storming of the prison weren't demure young ladies.

Mate reminded me of LORD LOUIS in TALE OF TWO CITIES race...
Owner: Mr. Doublet
Dam:French Princess
Dam's Sire:Air De France
Colours:Red, White & Blue
Jockey: Lyon
He reckoned it was a special if it had drawn Barrier XVI.

Looking at its form it would have been under the guillotine a long time ago in an efficient Republic.

Today's (Bastille Day) WEOTOTD Omen Special has to be TALE OF TWO CITIES.

WARRACKNABEL R6 2:43 #6 TALE OF TWO CITIES
A Tale of Two Cities (1859) is a novel by Charles Dickens, set in London and Paris before and during the French Revolution. With well over 200 million copies sold, it ranks among the most famous works in the history of fictional literature.

First up in 4 months he has a 3-1-1-0 FU and 3-1-0-0 2U record so races well fresh.
One of his two wins was over today's distance.
He has drawn the 6 gate (R6 #6 B6...666.....Yeah I know..he'll run 6th...but could be another omen!).
Today he is being ridden by Ibrahim Gundoglu who replaces Ben KNOBLE....how apt that a Knoble should be sacked from this horse!
He would've lost his head anyway.

GRAFTON
 R4 #11 REINETTE                    3rd                      $1.40   ($3.00)
MUDGEE
R8 #2 Bouzy Rouge                 2nd                      $1.90   ($5.40)
SANDOWN
R2 #7 Parfum de Belle             Unp                                  ($32.90)
R3 #6 Berlioz                           Unp                                  ($41.10)
WARRACKNABEAL
R1 #8 El le Pommes                 Unp                                  ($15.60)
R3 #14 Vert Cadeau.               Star       $15.90      $3.90                    $20.20 on another Tote.
R6 #5 Noisette                        Star       $2.30         $1.30
R6 #6 TALE OF TWO CITIES    Unp                                   ($14.10)
R7 #11 Sept Rouge                Unp                                    ($34.40)

Not a bad day for WEOTOTD if you ignore the fact that the Best Bet was unplaced (at $14.10). Rationalising the outcome by suggesting that Tale Of Two Cities was actually written by a Pom so it may have been bad Karma given the goings on in the cricket...you know...the cheating and not walking when you snick a ball to first slip!

No WEOTOTD today as my Events Calendar lists the only significance of July 15 as being the Mandaen New Year's Eve. BUT tomorrow we will go all out seking an omen to match Mandaen New Years..a religious group from Iran/Iraq with an astrological bent>

16th July WORLD SNAKE DAY

GEELONG
R9 4:20  #7 Viper Room
By Golden Snake.
Only beaten 1.6 L at Cranbourne last start over 1600.
Three starts from a spell have been over 1300, 1400 and 160.
He has won over today's 2000 so the timing and distance suits.
He's had only 1 win and no placings in his first 5 runs first up, second up and third up so appears to take his time coming to hand.
Should start somewhere around the $20 mark..so a Place bet might pay off.

WEOTOYTD SPECIAL for Wednesday...HURRICANE SUPPLICATION DAY in the US Virgin Islands (you would've known that anyway!):
DOOMBEN R8 3:48 #8 ELUSIVE STORM
19-2-9 Career 51234 Form Line
Both her wins have been over today's 1200.
Drawn 14...but the Hurricane Omen will see her storm home as she did two starts ago to go down by 1.3 L from 10th on the turn after being tightened at the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight and near the 200m was inconvenienced.
She led last start and went down by 2 L after When racing wide and over racing near the 900m, was ridden forward vigorously and obtained a position closer to the fence outside the lead leaving the 800m.
Paul Hammersley riding and Brian Smith trained she is in good hands and the wide barrier should see her price pushed out as well.
Each Way.

I reckon with all the Storm & related names, you've opted to do the only practical thing by selecting a Special Clap

Nelson Mandela's 95th Birthday today so:

VAAL South Africa
R3 10:05pm #5 Temps Perdu

First starter whose name means Lost Time which is apt when you look at Nelson Mandela's 28 years in prison.

Birthday of artist Edgar Degas..famous for Ballerina paintings and HORSES with one of his best being Steeple Chase-The Fallen Jockey(1866). One of his critics was contemporary author George Moore...what more do you need for good omen fodder?
Also:
Liberation Day/Sandanista Day Nicaragua.
Martyr's Day Burma.

CANBERRA
R6 #5 So You Can Dance..second up...rough hope..placed once from 6 starts.
#9 Our Dame Margot..drawn poorly and thrashed recently..very remote chance.

Had to put this one in...just finished watching Game Of Thrones Series with one of the main characters being heroine Daenerys Targaryen whose main role in the only 3 Series made so far is the invasion of Westerlos and conquering the 7 Kingdoms.
Someone called a race the DAENERYS TARGARYEN TROT at Melton tonight (9:12pm).
#6 is the Gavin Lang driven GOLDSTAR INVASION.

CANBERRA ABANDONED YESTERDAY.

Hope Daenerys goes better than Goldstar Invasion in Series 4!

Today is MOON DAY....celebrating man's first landing on the moon.
Ganymede in R2 in Melbourne was going to be the stand out omen but he's been scratched.

So there are only two runners that even vaguely apply in all of racingdom:
FLEMINGTON
R3 #4 SPACE
R5 #3 SPACECRAFT
