There’s a decent chance that WA might have a few representatives in the Melb Cup this year with POUNAMU & MATERIAL MAN both weighted on 54.5kg. That should get them high enough up the order of entry to make the field.

Maybe even TRAP FOR FOOLS (53kg) can jag a lead up race and make his way into the field too.

It would certainly make the Melb Cup a more exciting event if it had some contestants from Perth running.

I wwonder why Trap For Fools is running in the Turnbull Stakes instead of The Bart Cummings? I thought The Bart Cummings would if been a better option.

I thought it was a career best performance by Trap For Fools in the Turnbull Stakes. Finished 5th and only 1.95 lengths from the winner (Winx).Great effort.

Would be good to see him cometitive in a Caulfield Cup and just run well. Last year WA horse Boom Time won the Caulfield Cup..you'd probably day Trap For fools is not at Boom Time's level yet

Trap for Fools ran well in the Moonee Valley Cup..the on pace bias helped his front-running style but nonetheless he did well to get second. Winner (Ventura Storm( carried 1.5kg less and the margin was   roughly half a length

STAR WA 3YO RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

24 JANUARY, 2019

 THOROUGHBRED

T

THOROUGHBRED

Boom Western Australian three-year-old Arcadia Queen received international recognition last night when the 2018 Longine’s World’s Best Racehorse Rankings were released in London.

The Pierro filly, prepared by husband and wife training partnership Grant and Alana Williams, was listed with an international rating of 116 for her ultra-impressive win in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m), becoming only the second 3yo filly to win the race since its inception.

The Bob & Sandra Peters bred and raced galloper is a winner of five of her 6 career starts, including the WA Champion Fillies Stakes (G3), WA Guineas (G2) as well as the states premier weight-for-age contest at her first attempt at Group 1 level.

“I hope their assessment of Arcadia Queen is right,” Peters said.

“It’s recognition on what she has done and achieved.

“I hope she can justify her rating in the future.”

Former Western-Australian handicapper Ian Malpass, who participates on the panel on behalf of the Hong Kong Jockey Club said that it was deserved recognition.

“It was a super performance by the filly and inclusion in the listings is a deserved accolade,” Malpass said.

“The way she asserted her authority, winning by 4 ½ lengths over multiple Group 1 performed horses was super impressive.

“She looks to have a very bright future and hopefully she can continue to improve.

“Feature spring races in Melbourne and Sydney could provide the filly with an opportunity to support and perhaps improve her international rating.”

A total of 51 Australian trainer horses made the 2018 listings, headed by Australian champion Winx, who shares top billing in the listings with British trained colt Cracksman at 130.

The listing’s which are formulated by a panel of international handicappers on behalf of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) have listed thoroughbred performances rated 115+ for the calendar year.

WA owned gallopers Trap For Fools and Vega Magic both made the listings, as well as Voodoo Lad for his win in the Winterbottom Stakes (G1).

I agree...tougher field but hoping Material Man can run well.

Also Whispering Brook is flying too. Now trained by original trainer Simon Miller (was sent to Weir)

Also Trap For Fools runs in the Carlyon Cup at 1600m too

Okay Jamal I think you are selling him short.

He was with Land Of Plenty on the turn, and was going with him when the two Godolphin runners came together and shut the door on hi, he whipped around Kementari, and when he got clear he was one of the best finishes.

Flemington 1600m, looks good and he would be my vote for the All Star Mile.
Remember, it might take intelligence to be smart , but it takes experience to be wise
