She was mightily impressive on Saturday. What should her Spring targets be ?

Lovely filly, one of my faves.

Djebel, you know the answer and you know you'll blow up about it. She will be restricted in trip in her spring 4yo campaign - it worked for Winx was the comment. Expect her to target the Epsom initially.

I would not be letting a nice filly like her anywhere near a Caulfield Cup at 4 if she was mine.

I guess a full field around the Caulfield 2400m course is asking for more luck than talent but I think it is the obvious target for her.

She could even go via the Epsom to get there.

If she goe's via the Epsom , the cup is a gimme imo, it's a spring 4yo mares race.

I feel she has good speed and doesn't need to be extended to such a grueling trip and race at 4. I think this was virtually her second lifetime prep. It's going to be a bit to ask and you may not have a horse left. Waller is all about protecting them for the long term and not going out to a trip unless they need to do so to win a good race.

She was dominant in 1300m races last prep. She looks an ideal Cox Plate horse to me, in that she will be able to show the necessary speed and stamina that a race like that requires. As a 5yo with no Winx I'd be looking for her.

Where does that feeling come from ? ( not a flaming question ) It is something I simply do not understand.

Surely the Europeans and Japanese are showing you that these trips are not a slog for good horses and horses that are bred and made for these trips ?

There was a time when 3yos dominated the Melbourne Cup.

Well not really, Leilani and How Now last two to win the Oaks CC double, so maybe he may look elsewhere fwiw.

Just think about ALL the different formlines that all horses take on their journey to the Caulfield Cup. To have 2 winners coming from the Oaks in 45 years is actually not that bad.

When those two mares won the Oaks I assume they would have been run in the spring of their 3yo seasons.

I believe it is 10 4yo mares have won the Caulfield Cup since and including Leilani. That is quite a record and I'd imagine most of them would have at least run Oaks races in their 3yo season.

Unforgotten improved the further she raced.
A win at Grp 2 in the Phar Lap 1500m isn't near her peak rating now.
2nd in the Grp 1 Vinery 2000m with "back me next time" written all over her.
A win in the Oaks 2400m where she was full of running at the end.

2400m Caul Cup will be her race. 1600m against the best of her age and she isn't up to scratch so throw in the rest of the age groups and the extra distance stands out as what she needs.

Other than that, The Metropolitan? It's a Grp 1 and around the distance she will want.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left

That's 36.10 with Hiyaam leading Unforgotten 7 to 8 lengths at the 600m.

What time does Unforgotten run her last 600m in?

They have a great record for Galileo over Danehill line mares in Europe.  And Fastnet has done well with the reverse over there.  Seems it can work here also.

Thanks Horlicks.
I don't know how that sectional would stack up against other horses at the same distance, but.

Serene Miss's race they ran 35.10 for the final 600. (1400m race)
Winx's race was 34.3 so Winx ran way better time, Gailo Chop beaten just under 4 lengths led.

So 35.21 would be pretty good for a 3YO filly at the end of 2400m.

That's a brilliant final split at the end of 2400 for a filly.

When you get horses who can run 2.27.21 for 2400m anywhere ( especially a 3 Y/O Filly).   Put them in the future reference column.
She returned terrific figures = .85 outside ,   as to Winx 1.35 outside the Course record .
She will be a strong force , both Physically & Ability, come Spring.
POWERFUL form the Oaks 2018.

In what race? There is really only one- the Caulfield Cup. The Danehill breed don't win Melbourne Cups.

One of my favourite horses in training.

Profiles to explode second up today. Confident she wins an albeit tough race. She's not peaking but she doesn't have to be. She profiles really well for this on the way through.

Should get the speed on to suit. It's the key to the best horse winning.
