In her Time ran .1 sec quicker than The Everest field , food for thought for that slot holder.Surely 14 slots would give the those such horses a go .

Not really.  You would then have to sell 2 more slots and who's to say which horses they choose.  12 horse field is fine.

Slot holders need to be wiser about horses they use.  Inglis committed to Fell Swoop a long way out from the race.  Unfortunately this Spring he's a shadow of the horse that placed in the previous two TJ Smiths.  They could have kept their options open and gone for In Her Time when it became apparent she was in peak form.

Next year you might find a few slow owners sitting back and waiting for some of the lead up races to be resolved before committing to a horse.

Not really as i was under the impression that that slot holder who took Clearly Innocent chose between him and IHT , and did so very late in the piece .

Vega Magic was beaten by the barrier, not sure you can blame it on the jock. If h doesn’t restrain it to get some cover then it would’ve been racing about 5 wide. Not sure it finishes any closer in that scenario.

Where did you think Vega Magic was going to be from that barrier? Trouble was always more likely than not.

I'd either try get in very early or very late. The great sprinters are known beforehand, if you can't get one of those go for a in form horse late.

Doesn't mean people will always make the right call. We don't know the circumstances either. Connections of Clearly Innocent may have been more accepting of the terms offered to run in the slot.

Everybody is still learning the best approach.

The Everest was a runaway success.  That was the best field ever assembled in the history of Aussie racing

Racing NSW should not bother to seek black type status for the Everest.  The G1, G2, G3, Listed system of race classification has had its day.  Too many cheap G1s now as evidenced by the fact that Winx, Black Caviar and Frankel can win heaps of these G1 races without raising a sweat.  Take Winx out of the Turnbull and there is no way that was a top quality field as G1 is supposed to denote

The Everest now sits above G1 racing and to seek G1 status would only cheapen the Everest.  In the future breeders will pay more for an Everest winning colt than they will for a colt that wins a standard cheap G1 race

Group 0 is how Rob Waterhouse described it.If you are the most famous sprint race in the world you don't need a G1 label too.

Disagree about it being the best sprint field ever.

No doubt by your nick you really are yearling.I recall a Liston Stakes some years ago where the field comprised. Light Fingers, Galilee, Tobin Bronze, Winfreux, Bowl King, Ziema amongst the field. If that Everest field was a good as that race I will give up.

600k entry? Lets say you own Scenic Blast or Flying Artie..  you have to win at least 2 G1 races and have a lazy 600k still in the kick.. TO ENTER!!!

"Normal owners" would have the money spent, maybe another horse.. or a nicer car?? You're not putting it in the bank thinking... gee I'd like to NOMINATE for a damn race...

So.. to logically address this race... it has ZERO history to it.. so stud farms arent going to hang their hat on having won the prestigious 'everest'.. it's a cash grab.

It also gives NSW bragging right to the richest race?? So its a 'who's is bigger' contest?? Sword fight? Pretty lame.

Yeah- Everest winning entires- they are sure to hide that light under a bushel. No stud will want them.LOL
