Ther's a weighted e/w special in the Rubiton, should they accept in this rather than another event on the program.  And not hard to find among the noms.

I would have thought the other option (Listed race) would be the more logical way to go?

First up in 3yo fillies Listed company over 1200m with 57.5 kgs, or first up with 51 kgs over 1100m in a Gp 3.

No definitive answer of course, and don't know which way RDG will go.  However suspect I'll agree to disagree with you two good judges and plug for the Gp 3.  Wink

Highly recommend you listen to Brian Cox's interview on RSN Racing Ahead this morning before backing Sumakaray. Horse has been tying up (is that correct??) in trackwork and is not 100 percent right.

Ok you guys have won the day, no contest.

Most will note that I was earlier happy to acknowledge both you and Noccy as good judges.  The latter to his eternal credit hasn't sought to crow since acceptances.

However had to speak with the stable today on three unrelated matters, and when asked about the filly the Racing Manager advised they would have been keen to go with the shorter distance and weight relief were it not for the fact that they soon discovered they wouldn't be able to secure a suitable jock who could ride at or close to 51kgs.

ps suspect the last 100m will test first up with her weight in the Hayes, but hope springs eternal.

Noccy and I both knew you'd bite back and have the final dig Runfer thus the crow! Shocked

It's perplexing to think that a jockey can't be found at that weight around the Melbourne district leading into the major features over the next few weeks?

Thanks for the sincere acknowledgement however ....Clap

Rosscoe, by all means identify the Victorian jockeys who can ride competitively at 51kgs at the higher level.
Robbie will almost certainly welcome your advice.

Have a good day.

He rode Proisir in the Cox Plate at 49.5 didn't he , sorry now there are conditions, he wants a cuddler not someone that is in the top three Metro riders . My mistake

Thanks for your input Nocturnal, not meaning to be disrespectful.

However the race involved is a modest Gp 3 and not the Cox Plate, and no senior jockey would so much as contemplate losing 3kgs in the sweat box to ride this filly, particularly when the likes of Mick Price want their jockeys totally strong for races like the Orr Stakes.

The only disrespect would be for the horse and your trainer by our supposed top line riders not being prepared to waste to ride in a listed race . And again your lack of research/ knowledge is to the fore , Newitt doesn't have a ride In the Orr.

You're arguing at the margins.

Newitt is riding for six or seven different trainers on Friday night and Saturday.  None of them a wasted jockey on board.
Bottom line is that he certainly wouldn't waste 3 kgs to rise the filly in question, and that's an absolute fact.

I'm not that familiar with the Melbourne light weight jockey situation however with my own little bit of research - other than Froggy I found several others who fit the bill.

Check this list out - I'm not sure how up-to-date it is? .... but I do know there are several jocks who do meet the requirements of the filly.
