They would want to have a big opinion of it. This horse is a 4 year old stallion who ran 2nd in the Little Brown Jug at 3yrs and also ran 2nd to a horse called Somebeachsomewhere at his last start before being shipped to Australia. Somebeachsomewhere was and possibly still is the fastest pacer of all time with a win in a time of 1.46.4. Cold Mountain Stud paid alot of money for this horse which will be aimed at the Chariots of Fire as well as the Miracle Mile. Possibly the best horse on paper ever to be exported to Australia to race.

This thing went terribly at Moonee Valley last night. Cold Mountain Stud are taking a bath by importing well credentialled horses from the US for huge $$$ and getting nothing in return. If Clive Palmer is serious about building a harness racing empire he needs to give Simon Burrows the flick, he is harness racing's version of Dale Sutton, they have big money owners pouring millions of dollars into the sport giving them horses and every chance to succeed however they are delivering nothing. The same thing was happening to Nathan Tinkler until he gave A.J Cummings the flick now his team are starting to come along nicely.

Former Yankee Lonestar Legend Now Bound For Sydney.

Boom North American pacer Lonestar Legend has a new trainer.

A massive flop in Friday night's Bold David FFA at Moonee Valley in Melbourne, the Cold Mountain Stud owned pacer has now been transferred to the leading stables of top Sydney conditioner Paul Fitzpatrick.

Fresh from the success of fellow former North American Mr Feelgood in this years' Watpac ID09 Series, Lonestar Legend created massive interest in his Australian debut but failed badly and weakened to last placing behind star pacer Smoken Up in a mile rate of 1.54.7 after leading.

Prior to his debut performance, Lonestar Legend won a Gold Coast 1609m trial in a time of 1.55.4 and covered his final half in 56.9 seconds.

Sources revealed that plans were put into place over the weekend to have Lonestar Legend and stablemate South Park Hanover transferred to the stables of Paul Fitzpatrick in Sydney.

Fitzpatrick, currently in Perth campaigning his star filly Ima Spicey Lombo outlined that he was excited by the challenges that lie ahead with his new acquisitions.

"It came out of the blue, that's for sure but they appear to be high quality animals and it's going to be a good test for all concerned" Fitzpatrick said.

"They are both heading up to Sydney and we will assess them both once I return home from Perth before announcing any grand plans" Fitzpatrick added.

Lonestar Legend boasts outstanding credentials including a victory in a heat of the famed Little Brown Jug in Delaware before returning some hours later to finish second in the final behind star pacer Shadow Play.

The striking Western Hanover stallion also chased home champion pacer Somebeachsomewhere in a division of the Tattersalls Pace at the Red Mile in Kentucky in a staggering time of 1.47.4 before being purchased by big spending Queensland owner Clive Palmer and his Cold Mountain Stud.

The $200,000 Chariots Of Fire on July 31 at Harold Park remains a distinct possibility for Lonestar Legend.

Mr feelgood didnt exactly make headlines his 1st aus start.. had easier race led easily and faded for 4th.. than wins next week at 40-1.
the race lonestar legend was in was terribly tough.. seasoned horses he took on there and hes only 4..
and new trainer.. all good in sayin yeh 1.55 trial but maybe he wasnt ready to run that time yet and it took lot outta the poor bloke.. send him to fitzpatricks get him right n then he'll show everyone wat he can do

Good to see Clive Palmer has come to his senses and given Burrows the flick. This colt's American form is much too good for it to be a flop. Fitzpatrick is close to the best trainer in the country and I expect he'll improve it by a long way on what we seen on Friday night. Also have to remember that Lonestar Legend was bred to the US breeding season, and that when he contests the Chariots of Fire he'll be conceding around 4 months of age to the Australian 4yo's, so he still has plenty of maturing to do and plenty of improvement left in him.
