Nice work.

Great value at $3.70 on opening.

Was an outstanding trial - I do worry the tight circuit with a bigger size field but suspect she will settle & round them up turning into the straight

Impressive Debut for So You Think Juvenile
Tara Madgwick - Tuesday, 16 May 2017
Kris Lees and Hugh Bowman combined forces at Wyong on Tuesday with an interesting two year-old filly by the great champion So You Think.

An athletic brown filly with an eye-catching blaze, Intrinsic was sent out favourite for the 1100 metre maiden.

Despite jumping awkwardly and racing a touch greenly over the concluding stages, she was able to forge clear and win by three quarters of a length over Pierro filly Aeecee Tong De.

"She's a nice filly and being by So You Think, Kris thought whatever she does today, she'll only get better over further," said Hugh Bowman.

"She wasn't really sure what to do when I asked her to go to the front, so she'll only improve.

"From what she showed me, I think she's more of a sprinter miler, but she will be a very nice horse for the spring."

Retained to race by her breeders, Intrinsic is a full sister to handy winner Too Fast for Love and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from former smart mare Vecchia Roma.

She is pictured here as a foal at Segenhoe Stud in 2014.

Twice placed at Group III level, Vecchia Roma won three good races in town at 1100 and 1200 metres and is by Testa Rossa, so it's not surprising Intrinsic is showing speed.

So You Think has had a great season with his three year-olds who include Group I winners Inference and La Bella Diosa and stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $60,500.

This girl may get to the top level.

She is still very raw physically & mentally & Kris & team have done a very good job.

Suspect she may be tipped out now or just go around 1 more time this prep.

Is there any updated info on Neguev and if the French Derby is still the plan?

Also, on Angel Island?

Angel Island ran last night, I was initially disappointed but Racing Post where a little positive.

Not a bad race. The first two fillies home have a fair bit of ability and both may end up seeking black type at some stage.

BUMBASINA will probably get beyond a mile in due course. She settled just off a good gallop, made her move to the lead inside the 2f pole and didn't do a whole lot once she got there, even showing a propensity to hang to her right a bit. When the runner-up came to challenge she picked up again and won going away. She seemed to have a little bit more in hand than the margin of victory and is clearly going the right way.

Angel Island settled just off the pace set by her stablemate and was in the perfect position to challenge early in the straight but she just couldn't go with the winner for a few vital strides and from there she was always being held. The slight bump she received from the winner was of no consequence in the final analysis. She's decent enough, though, and there is a good race to be won with her.

Cloistered ran much better here than she had on ground at Navan which was too quick. She was settled just off the pace and Colm O'Donoghue moved her into contention on the inside rail but she couldn't quite sustain her effort. It was more encouraging even if she probably didn't run to her mark.

Grey Willow kept on late but could make little impression after a slow start.

Furiosa could make no impression either in first-time cheekpieces.

Lady Tipperary was there to set a good gallop and did her job. [Justin O'Hanlon]

QUOTES: Bumbasina did that well. She's lazy but she still finds. The plan worked out well today and Billy gave her a lovely ride - Willie McCreery, trainer.

Can not find anything on Neguev except he is entered for the Prix du Jockey Club. If he is going there he will not race before hand as his trainer never runs his good horses inside 3 weeks.

Hopefully Neguev was not in the stables affected by EHV.

By Kelsey Riley

A Pau stable housing 57 horses trained by Jean-Claude Rouget has been isolated after an outbreak of Equine Herpesvirus (EHV-1. Two horses in the barn have been euthanised as a result of the neurological disease, while others still have displayed neurological symptoms.

Jean-Claude Rouget said on Sunday, “It has been the worst week of my 40-year career. It is a very devastating virus that affected the colts’ barn. We don’t know where it came from. Fifty-seven horses were infected and two have been put down.”

“Everything happened very fast,” Rouget added. “On Tuesday we looked okay and no horse was showing any bad symptoms but on Wednesday, some started to stagger while walking. We knew the virus was striking the nervous system. It became worse on Thursday but the treatment we gave them is very efficient and by Friday it was getting better, and it is better ever since.”

“The horses affected cannot run at all,” he noted. “The barn is quarantined anyway and well separated from the others, in another area. So it’s pretty safe. My other horses are doing okay and they are running as they should run.”

France-Galop issued a statement that read, “The Equine Herpes Type 1 Virus is currently limited to one barn. This barn, which houses [57] male horses is completely isolated, and a dedicated team is caring exclusively for these horses. One horse had to be put down yesterday after the progression of the encephalitis that affected him. The three horses affected by nervous symptoms to varying degrees are receiving constant care. The horses who yesterday showed subtle nervous signs are doing a lot better. The 40 or so horses in good health in this barn are authorized solely to go out in the forest, apart from other horses from other outfits. The sanitary measures taken have permitted us to avoid the spread of the sickness to other barns of the same trainer. These measures were put in place 15 days ago, upon the discovery of the first feverish horse. These barns, situated in the Sers area more than 600 meters from the infected barn, are also the subject of constant and strict surveillance for 15 days that permits us to be certain that the horses are unharmed. The organization put in place, which is made easier by the fact that each barn has a dedicated staff, allowed them to maintain a normal level of training. The horses in the other barns are authorized to train normally. Their access to race at a track is very well defined: the horses have to belong to a barn where no case of fever has been detected for at least 15 days. They must undergo a medical examination before leaving and be accompanied by a veterinary certificate. The destination racetrack must reserve stalls and have them examined by the on-track veterinarian. The monitoring of the situation is undertaken with a strict collaboration with the services of France Galop.”

Thanks Djebel. Impressive win.
But between you and me, I'd rather own the second horse...bought for $5,000 at the sales, already made three times that in place checks LOL

So You Think had a winner in the Czech Republic a few weeks ago, a colt by the name of Evzen.

He's being ridden by the jockey in the red and orange with the yellow cap.

No problem. Also he got his first black-type placegetter in the NH last night when two-year-old filly Shapes ran third in a Listed race in Naas. Not much of a race, but but the winner looks smart.

I would not be too worried about the form. She had a lot of improvement, was very short in trip and stable like her a lot.

She is very smart
