Keeps on winning Shane Dye.

Thanks for the link Uncle. What I can't understand is that why a third world country like Mauritius can provide detailed results on their site while the race clubs in Australia can't.

He's Back  http://www.racingandsports.com.au/racing/rsnewsart.asp?NID=264184

Sunday, 4 November 2012: Former champion jockey Shane Dye will make his much anticipated comeback to race riding in New Zealand this week.

The 46-year-old Dye has confirmed he will return to action at Matamata on Friday, taking his first race ride since early in 2010.

His comeback ride will be aboard the Jason Bridgman-trained Goyescas in a 1400m maiden, a far cry from the time when Dye was the glamour jockey of Australasian racing.

It will be a fitting venue for Dye's comeback as his career began at Matamata in the 1980s as an apprentice with the Dave O'Sullivan stable.

After becoming champion NZ apprentice he made the move to Sydney and won two premierships in the 1990s and became Australia's leading Group One jockey.

His major wins included the Melbourne Cup on Tawriffic and four successive victories in the Golden Slipper Stakes among 93 G1 victories.

In the late 1990s Dye moved to Hong Kong where he was perennially among the top three on the premiership until he suffered serious head injuries in a race fall at Sha Tin in 2006.

He returned to race riding just three months later but struggled to recapture top form and eventually returned to Sydney where limited opportunities led to him accepting a contract to ride in Mauritius.

However the contract was terminated in 2010 after just two months and he has since been in limbo, spending much of his time in Singapore and Macau before returning to New Zealand this year.

Talk of a comeback started when where he resumed riding trackwork in August.

He stepped up to riding in barrier trials in September and NZ racing has since been abuzz over the prospect of his return to race riding despite the often controversial Dye refusing to confirm or deny his comeback plans.

He finally confirmed it was on after deciding on Friday that he had reached the fitness level required to compete again in races.

“I’m already 100 yards better than when he had my first trial rides a few weeks ago,” Dye told the Informant.

“Things have changed since I last rode here. I’m going to have to get my finish sorted with the different whip rules that are now in force.

"I don’t see a problem with that, it’s simply going to be a matter of adjusting.

“I’m not in any rush and haven’t been in any rush. It will come to me."

Gai should bring Shane back to get here out of the mud.

46 is not old, think D Oliver has 98 G1s, does someone know where Shane sits with the number of G1 wins before leaving Aust.

Wish him well .      He rode a listed winner and placing for me in 1991 at the height of his career.
A hyper type of person who I would say is basically shy .     A thorough gentleman and as he took over riding our horse from Jim Cassidy you can understand it when I say one was a great guy the other , well you would have to ask Drugs King killer Mokbell that.
