First foal for star Aussie mare Samantha Miss

 By Martin Stevens 11:48AM 13 AUG 2010

SAMANTHA MISS, a triple Group 1 winner in Australia and the subject of two seven-figure sales, has produced her first foal.

The new arrival, a More Than Ready filly, was born in Australia on Wednesday.

"The foal is a good size and alovely type," Duncan Grimley, racing manager for media magnate John Singleton – who bought Samantha Miss for A$3.85m (£2.2m, €2.7m) at last year's Inglis Easter broodmare sale – told the Newcastle Herald.

Samantha Miss, a daughter of Redoute's Choice out of a half-sister to Group 1 winner Cronus, was purchased for A$1.5m (£862,000, €1.05m) as a yearling.

She went on to win seven of her 12 starts including three Group 1 races – the Champagne Stakes at two, and the Flight Stakes and Crown Oaks at three.

Samantha Miss's newborn daughter's sire, More Than Ready, shuttles between Vinery Stud's bases in Kentucky and Australia.

More Than Ready is sire of last year's Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready, as well as the 2008 winner, Sebring, who was subsequently beaten by SamanthaMiss in the Champagne Stakes.

The typical mating of Grp 1 winner to Grp 1 sire. If that foal ,as a first foal , is a good size then Ill walk backwards to Scone.,
Betcha next year sees her mated with a completely diff stallion.Pinch
I don't have one
