Yes.

The great news is, He isn't.

Have a look at the Battle Of Hastings thread, google it. I do not discriminate against the horses.

He had a horse called Vatican which was a bloody honest horse and very good to me. This horse today would want to be pretty damn good to get to Vatican's level. Judging by that performance today l can't see it. But very early days.

He may have had better horses than Vatican but l haven't been in the game long enough to know.

I was a fan of his as well despite him being a gelding. Big smile

Byron Cozamanis - TRAINER

Byron commenced training in 1972 in the sea side town of Port Lincoln where he grew up. Byron always had a love of thoroughbreds, and training them was second nature to him. He proved to be successful soon after taking out his licence.

Training in Port Lincoln saw Byron score 5 winners in one day on 2 occasions, and he was the leading trainer for consecutive years. In 1991, Byron accompanied by his supportive wife Susan and children, made the move to Morphettville, South Australia, where he made a direct impact on the local trainer ranks.

Assisting in his success were top gallopers Scorndale (17 career wins including the Group 3 Thomas Elger and the Yallumba Classic Mile in which he still holds the track record), Scornsome who won 3 straight in town as a 3 year old (his biggest win being the Thomas Elder) and Clear View (who gave Byron a wonderful highlight when she defeated Divine Madonna in the Listed Chrysler Stakes).

Another of Byron's career highlights was winning the 2001 Adelaide Magic Millions with Barossa Broadway, ridden by Jason Holder.

After the retirement of some of his favourite horses (Zipanese, Aztec Smytzer and Grand Duels), Byron has had to rebuild his team from scratch.

At present, Vatican is one of the stable stars. The 4YO has already amassed close to $300,000 in prizemoney. Adjuster, Lateva and Repousser are some of the other young horses that Byron hopes will measure up in good city company next preparation.

That's correct. He loved the Valley. He used to always go around at good odds too.

Just flicking through his results now and one day at Sandown he ran 2nd behind Shamal Wind. The horse that ran 3rd was Moment of Change. He wasn't in their class but that gives you an idea of his ability. He was a level or two below the the best sprinters but honest as a day's long.

I got the impression today a mile will be where this horse stars.

Vatican won Cozi a new car at the 955m Valley I think. He held the track record for a little while, thinks it’s been beaten now though.

I see there is another Byron that trains out of Port Lincoln, I presume that is his son?

This horse keeps winning. Might be better than what l thought. Visually he doesn't look that impressive, but you can't knock a winner. He's been well placed too actually.

On the back of today's performance l definitely think he can get longer. Best part of his race was that last 100.

Keep the eye for a filly called Blonde Choice if she pops up in a maiden in the near future. Had a jumpout with this bloke the other day in good time, margin to 3rd

Cheers TJM. She's nominated for Cranbourne on Friday.

As for Rock Hard, he's in the paddock now. He'll be back in the spring. Cozy mentioned the Caulfield Guineas and the Magic Millions Guineas as targets. Good luck to him. Gotta aim high sometimes.
