WTF; what is happening here; seems disastrous. Was thinking of him over his sire, but those stats say go to SA and the  sire.

So You Think - Curragh - 02.05.2011

So You Think: his dam Triassic is still in service at the age of 24

So You Think dam in foal to Reliable Man

 BY RACING AND SPORTS1:40PM 30 JAN 2015

TRIASSIC, the veteran dam of champion galloper So You Think, has been confirmed in foal to New Zealand-based sire Reliable Man.

The positive test is a wonderful result for Triassic's owner Cecile Smith, Westbury Stud and the Matamata vet practice that played a significant role in the 24-year-old mare's breeding longevity.

"She's come back from Matamata vets absolutely glowing, beautifully dappled and shiny. She looks ten years younger," Smith said.

"Thanks to Dave Hanlon and Dot Hallyburton at Matamata vets who took such good care of her."

Triassic was unable to have a foal last season with her most recent birth being a 2012 colt by Medaglia D'Oro.

Reliable Man, a Westbury Stud shuttle stallion, had his first New Zealand progeny born last spring.

The son of Dalakhani won the Prix du Jockey Club in France and the  Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick when he was trained in Sydney by Chris Waller.

Triassic got in foal to Reliable Man without a delay. She had a gender test on day 63 that revealed she is carrying a filly.

"I'll keep this one for myself and it will become the foundation of a continuing breeding line," Smith said.

Triassic, by Tights, was the winner of the Group 2 Sir Tristram Fillies Classic and the Listed Soliloquy Stakes, while at stud she has a perfect record having produced eight named foals and eight winners.

Led by ten-time Group 1 winner side So You Think, they also include Group 3-placed Now You Think and the dual winner Circus Dance, who has produced the stakes winning sprinter Faaltless.

Reliable Man served a high class book of mares last spring including Royal Prize, the dam of recent Eight Carat Classic and Royal Stakes winner Saavoya, New Zealand Oaks winner Artistic, Flight Stakes winner and WS Cox Plate runner-up Lotteria and the stakes performers Blinding, Canyon Yodeller, Chaparella, Chuckle, Fairfield Flame, Innocent Lady, Joint Effort, Kiri, Magic Belle, Miss Scarlatti, Monachee, Ortem Fire, Pravda, Run Roxy Run, Run To The Bank, The Darling One and Zingo.

He also covered the dams of the stakes performers Bellini Rose, Cavallo, Charlestown, Exceptionally, Keep the Peace, Neo, Niki Piki Milo, Nothin' Leica Cat, Role Model, Scapolo, Secret's Only, Serein, Storming the Tower, The Travelling Man and Whosyourmaster.

Siblings to Dracula, Sash, Silent Achiever, Vitrinite, Zabisco, and Zagalia were also mares served by Reliable Man in his second season at Westbury.

TBV - where it is the Silly Season all year round.

Stop trying to out think them Djebel.  They often start their staying bred horses early.

Look at Apollo Eleven he was out as a 2yo on 7th October for a 2nd over 4f 110y.  He had 13 2yo starts.  Didn't stop him staying or winning G1's over 3200m.

Spyglass the dam of Iron Horse (Epsom H) had 8 starts as a 2yo starting first over 800m for a 3rd.  She went on and won the Ellerslie Sires' Produce S G1 over 1400m and then as an older horse won the Auckland Cup over 3200m.

Silver Knight had 9 2yo starts - starting over 5f 110y.  He only won the one 2yo race but went on to win the Melbourne Cup.

Maybe its how they get good hard horses!

Those horses probably showed class rather than speed. ( there is a difference ) This Reliable Man filly was completely run off her feet.

Winx's mother had an interesting 2yo season in New Zealand, 9 starts including 2 early season 800-900m scampers.

It might be fine that these horses went on to win middle distant and staying contests but now that we have more and
more UK imports coming in they are winning less and less of our open class longer races. They are not reaching the top like they did in the good old days.

This one has been backed in the 2nd at Sandown. I suspect what ever it does on a firm track it will be 2 or 3 classes better on a damp track.

Looks likely to join Savabeel, Ifraaj, and Tavistock as another great middle distance stallion for NZ. I’d love to own the progeny of any of them. NZ is a great place to buy/breed if you want a classic horse

I completely agree Carioca- and I’m Ozzie too. I’ve become such a fan of NZ bred racehorses that I’ve now got a mare over there chasing the dream of breeding/racing a Cox Plate winner - and its a nice place to visit.

Hello,
Isn't it strange, how similar are the peds of Governor Landy (NZ) and the Germanbred Moon Relation? Even they are bred on the Antipodes. Both horses carrying Shirley Heights/Pentire and Shirley Heights/Gull Nook are 3/4 relatives.
