I'd welcome Donald Trump's impeachment, but he has gotten these 20 things right

Ruben Navarrette Jr., Opinion columnist Published 6:00 a.m. ET Sept. 12, 2018 | Updated 12:41 p.m. ET Sept. 12, 2018

I'd welcome impeachment but fair is fair

I’m surprised the number climbed that high. I’ve been a consistent Never Trumper who hopes the president’s first term is his last. I would even welcome impeachment. Even so, I’m also a journalist trained to look for the truth and share it whether it’s popular or not.

Thus, even as someone who has criticized Trump on issues ranging from trade to immigration to education, it's only fair to do what much of the news media refuse to do — admit that Trump has done some things right. Such as:

►Move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

►Pull the United States out of the Iranian nuclear deal.

►Stand up to NATO countries for not ponying up enough money to cover the organization’s expenses and their own defense costs.

►Take on the news media and not back down, exposing https://gop.com/the-highly-anticipated-2017-fake-news-awards/" rel="nofollow - bias and agenda-driven journalism intended to run him out of office.

►Put an intense focus on immigration, the importance of border security and the cost of illegal immigration, including U.S. citizens killed by the undocumented.

►Target the ruthless Salvadoran street gang MS-13.

►Picking James Mattis as Defense secretary, Nikki Haley as ambassador to the United Nations, John Kelly as White House chief of staff andKellyanne Conway as senior adviser.

►Begin a dialogue with North Korea about ending its nuclear weapons program.

►Focus attention on Rust Belt states and give respect to white working-class voters, overlooked by the elites on both coasts.

►Challenge elitism and question what it means to be “elite.”

►Create millions of new jobs (the White House claims as many as https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/president-donald-j-trumps-500-days-american-greatness/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=wh" rel="nofollow - 3 million ) and bring unemployment down to  http://thehill.com/policy/finance/400220-july-jobs-report" rel="nofollow - 3.9 percent , the lowest since 2000.

►Focus national attention on the opiod crisis, including a look at doctors who overprescribe pain pills.

►Nominate impressive Supreme Court candidates Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

►Propose and help pass a https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2017/01/trump-corporate-tax-cut/514148/" rel="nofollow - tax cut and cut federal regulations .

►Pull out of the Paris Agreement on climate change and defy global warming alarmists.

►Renegotiate unfair trade deals in search of better terms.

►Target racial preferences at colleges and universities, which often hurt intended beneficiaries by lowering standards.

►Refocus immigration debate by ending DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and trying to force Congress to confront the thorny issue of what to do with "Dreamers," who were brought to the USA illegally when they were kids.

►Shake up both the Republican and Democratic establishments and remain independent from the Washington cartel.

►Make politics more accessible to people who have rarely voted or cared about it, and widen the door of civic engagement.

He is beholden to no special interest. He doesn’t need special interest money to get elected or re-elected.

He is the only true outsider ever elected POTUS. We always said we wanted a Wash. outsider and we got one!

He’s a smart of very successful business man. He has created 1000’s of jobs.

Great negotiator.

Already has relationships with foreign governments.

Will not be intimidated by anyone. Will never be an apologist.

He will never lead from behind.

Has zero affinity for political correctness. Not afraid to name our enemies. Values Americans personal safety over someone else’s hurt feelings.

Pro-Military. Pro-Police. Pro-Veteran.

Committed to defeating ISIS

High energy and super hard worker. Don’t see him taking many vacations.

Good father. Raised a bunch of great and grounded kids. Not easy when you have billions of dollars.

Calls out the media and feels no need to cow-town to them. Finally put an end to having to tip toe around the corrupt media.

Is not at all move or intimidated by being called a racist, sexist and all the other tiresome, over used, liberal labels.

Has helped many women break the glass ceiling. His present and past workers, especially the women speak very highly of him.

I have heard story after story of his huge generosity over his entire adult life. Of course, the media has never even told a single personal story of his generosity to so many people. Too bad for everyone not to hear and see the real man.

Loves his family and easily shows affection.

Picked an awesome VP. Picks for Sec of State and AG -great picks as well.

Will fight for all Americans, of all colors, race, gender, etc.

Will negotiate better trade deals. Won’t let other countries run all over us while we give them our money.

Good allies to Israel

Not afraid to call out other politicians, even in his own party.

Dislikes Rosie O'Donnell!

Makes up awesome words like “Bigly” and “Yuge”

Pivots when necessary

Doesn’t share a brain with Valerie Jarrett

Loves America and isn’t afraid to say it!

Supports the 2nd Amendment

All his policies focus on what best for the American people and will put our interest in front of all others

Hes a fighter even when ALL the odds are agianst him and he always comes out a winner.

He doesn’t seek more power-he has all he needs or wants already. Unlike the Clinton's whose insatiable appetite for power clouded their better judgement in almost all possible ways.

Is totally committed to making America great again.

Do I need to go on?

However, this is partially based on his word and he will SHOW the American people they made the right choice.
I have no problem with people having a differing say , as long as they can back it up.       Unlike the TBV critics who even believe in Santa & Climate Change.

Gee macca I nearly fell of my seat here.

Make America great again. How is he doing that, because anyone who says they can do that is not entirely cognisant of the way the USA became a superpower.

Pro-veteran. Is that why he said that John McCain was a loser because he was a prisoner of war, and that winners never get caught. Also I do not remember seeing the huge increase in veterans investment, might have missed that one so if you can enlighten me.

I am not sure if Trump, would know what the 2nd Amendment is let alone support it. It does not give every citizen of the US the right to bare arms, it states that the US will have a well armed civilian militia.

If he always comes out a winner, how come he has filed for chapter 11 about five times?

Nothing wrong with loving America, as long as you love the right parts.

Have to say disliking Rosie O'Donnell is a plus, can't stand her!

The reason he calls out politicians, is he is not one, and he dislikes both parties, so he does not care about who he p#@ses off, which again is not a bad thing!

Not sure what US gets by being a good ally to Israel. The country has stole nuclear secrets from the US, it has arms in some telecommunications companies which allows for high level surveillance and Israel could not care any less about the US policy in the middle east. So again not quite sure what the US gets from their relationship, at least you know where you stand with the Chinese (there is a great skit on Saturday Night Live about the debt that the US has with China, but I can not upload it).

Yeah I can see the Don in south central LA or the east side of Chicago, getting down and dirty with the gang members and prositutues fighting for everyone

I must be blind, because I have never once seen him show affection for any of his family members, a trait he learnt from dear old dad, similar to the Kennedys.

John Gotti was generous to, but that did not lessen the fact that he was an ars@#hole, who would sooner kill you than look at you.

Committed to defeating ISIS? Seriously? I thought he had already done that, or was that just a flash back to Goerge W on the deck of an aircraft carrier?

Yep he helps a lot of women, out, but only if they are good looking, like his daughter

Just because someone is called a racist misogynist or sexist, it does not mean the term is not warranted when used. I mean stating, and gloating, that you handle womens Pu@#ies, is the sign of a really class human being. I hope you do/did not teach, your son to do those things.

I am not actually certain what the term pro-military and pro-police means. Are you saying that he lets the military and police, do whatever they want and they can get away with it?

Yep that is why when Ivanka was caught using personal emails for government business, she said the rule did not apply to her, for some reason I did not catch, as I tuned out half way through that interview.

Do not know him well enough to say if he is a hard worker or not.

I did not know that Russia was suddenly not an enemy of the US. I must have missed Putin's leadership.

Already has relationships with foreign governments. Well in a sane person that would be okay, however it depends on what kind of relationship you have. If you have the kind of relationship where you can be blackmailed, influenced and corrupted, then the relationship is not a good one.

I would love to say he is a great negotiator, but I have not seen him negotiate, so I will that one slide.

No I ma not sure why the media do not think he is a good leader at all, looks a great man which will go down as one of many presidents.

The package, comprised of two bills (H.R. 1865 and H.R. 1158) funding all federal agencies for Fiscal Year 2020, was passed by the House on Tuesday with bipartisan votes of 297-120 and 280-138, respectively, followed by Senate votes of 71-23 and 81-11 yesterday. The wins for animals in the package include:

  • Wild horses and burros: The funding package provides an additional $21 million to the Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse and Burro Program—funds that can only be accessed after the agency submits a comprehensive plan on how it will implement an aggressive, non-lethal program. The program must be based on scientifically sound, safe and humane fertility control tools that exclude surgical sterilization, an increased focus on adoptions, and relocation of wild horses and burros to larger, more humane pastures instead of perpetually warehousing these animals in holding pens. Additionally, the bill prohibits the BLM and, for the first time ever, also the U.S. Forest Service from killing or sending healthy horses or burros to slaughter.
  • Wildlife trafficking whistleblowers: The package includes the Rescuing Animals With Rewards Act, which authorizes the State Department to award monetary incentives to persons who disclose original information concerning transnational wildlife crimes that result in a successful enforcement action.
  • USDA inspection and enforcement records: Language in the omnibus directs the U.S. Department of Agriculture to promptly resume online posting of all https://blog.humanesociety.org/2019/11/usda-moves-to-permanently-hide-animal-welfare-records-at-puppy-mills-walking-horse-shows-and-other-regulated-businesses.html?credit=blog_post_121919_id11066" rel="nofollow - inspection reports and enforcement records under the Animal Welfare Act and Horse Protection Act in their entirety without redactions that obscure the identities of puppy mills, roadside zoos and other businesses cited for violations. This is the first time Congress has included bill language (rather than report language) to fix this problem, and the USDA will have no choice but to follow this directive.
  • Companion animals in domestic violence situations: The package provides $2 million for a new grant program authorized by the 2018 Farm Bill, based on the Pet and Women Safety (PAWS) Act. The grant program will help provide emergency and transitional shelter options for domestic violence survivors with companion animals. House committee report language directs the USDA, and the Departments of Health and Human Services as well as Housing and Urban Development to coordinate implementation during FY20 (House and Senate committee report language not explicitly reversed is deemed agreed to by both chambers in the omnibus).
  • Horse slaughter: Prohibits USDA expenditures on horse slaughter inspections, effectively preventing horse slaughter plants from operating in the U.S. during FY20.
  • Animal Welfare Act enforcement: The House committee report calls on the USDA to require that inspectors document every observed violation, to reverse concealment practices that the agency has promoted during the past few years. The omnibus includes $31,310,000 for Animal Welfare Act (AWA) enforcement.
  • Horse soring: Provides $1 million (a $295,000 increase) for USDA enforcement of the Horse Protection Act (HPA), to crack down on the https://blog.humanesociety.org/2019/09/at-tennessee-walking-horse-celebration-repeat-soring-offenders-win-championship-ribbons.html?credit=blog_post_121919_id11066" rel="nofollow - cruel practice of “soring” Tennessee Walking Horses and related breeds.
  • Alternatives to animal research/testing: Provides a $40 million increase to the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), which is charged with making direct applications of non-animal alternatives for research and regulatory needs by federal agencies. The additional funds will help speed the transition to non-animal methods.
  • Trafficking of companion animals for research and testing: Renews the prohibition against the USDA using funds to license Class B random source dealers who are notorious for trafficking in dogs and cats obtained through theft for research and testing.
  • Use of primates in research: Omnibus report language directs the National Institutes of Health to report to Congress on alternatives to reduce and replace primates in biomedical research.
  • USDA enforcement: The House committee report presses the USDA Inspector General to strengthen its animal fighting enforcement and to audit the USDA’s enforcement of the AWA, HPA and Humane Methods of Slaughter Act.
  • Humane slaughter of farm animals: Renews bill and report language directing the USDA to ensure that inspectors focus attention on compliance with humane handling rules for live animals as they arrive at slaughter plants and are offloaded and handled in pens, chutes and stunning areas, and that all inspectors receive robust training.
  • Pet food safety: Provides $500,000 for the Food and Drug Administration to address pentobarbital contamination in pet food, which has caused illness and death in pets.
  • Disaster planning: Continues funding for the USDA to coordinate with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and to support state and local governments’ efforts to plan for protection of people with animals and incorporate lessons learned from previous disasters. Directs the USDA to work with producers that want to voluntarily develop disaster plans to prevent livestock deaths and injuries.
  • Vet care: Provides $8,000,000 for the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment program that encourages veterinarians to locate in underserved rural or urban areas.
  • Wildlife protection funding: Maintains level funding for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service programs that protect species listed under the Endangered Species Act. Provides an increase of almost 30% from FY19 for the internationally focused Multinational Species Conservation Fund. The omnibus also rejects a proposed cut to the Wolf Livestock Demonstration Program, maintaining funding for its grants supporting proactive, non-lethal measures by livestock producers to reduce the risk of livestock loss by wolves, and to compensate producers for livestock losses caused by wolves.
  • Marine mammals: Provides $3 million to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for North Atlantic right whale conservation, with $1 million specifically reserved for a pilot project for research and development of safer fishing gear to lessen entanglements with these critically endangered whales. Also maintains funding of the Marine Mammal Commission—a key independent federal agency tasked with addressing human impacts on marine mammals and their ecosystems—overcoming its proposed elimination in the president’s budget.
  • Trophy imports: Directs the USFWS to reevaluate its current policy allowing imports of hunting trophies on a case-by-case basis and analyze how targeted investments and technical assistance to the exporting countries’ conservation programs would impact the survival of elephants and lions, improve local communities, and sustain species’ populations. The omnibus expresses concern that the current trophy import policy is detrimental and may not adequately determine whether a country has proper safeguards in place to protect species vulnerable to poaching.
  • Wildlife trafficking: Dedicates funds under the State Department and the Department of the Interior to combat the transnational threat of wildlife poaching and illicit wildlife trafficking. Prohibits use of State Department funds by any military units or personnel credibly alleged to have participated in wildlife poaching or trafficking.

We are grateful to the many congressional champions of these provisions with whom we worked over the past year, to House and Senate leadership for keeping the process on track, and to all the legislators who voted for these measures. We also thank President Trump for signing both appropriations bills, helping us create a brighter future for animals in 2020 and beyond.

Here we go again .  As soon as humane treatment for all animals comes up, Macca wades in with the tired old lines about people who eat meat.
You really should learn to differentiate between the 2 subjects.
I am all for eradicating all ferals, starting with the human kind that dump their animals and allow them to go wild.  No feral humans dumping cats and dogs means no feral cats and half bred dogs killing wild life. So lets start with the human ferals.

Good on the Congress for doing this despite Trump though.

Isn't that a fair enough example ...

No, tired old lines are not reality.     Eating meat does not mean you have no compassion or empathy for animals and the way they are  "disposed"  of.

Hey PT, we owed you one, so here it is - for everyone else, this is almost as funny as Tom Shillue's Adam Schiff-for-brains parody's ...

The Guardian have prepared their "impartial" report on the TEN ways that Trump has impacted America!

Try to ignore The Guardian begging for money so they can keep the doors open, and you will notice two things missing form the top 10 ... not one comment on the ECONOMY or EMPLOYMENT ... gotta love the "progressive left" and their hard hitting factual unbiased reporting!LOL

The Trump 2020 impact report: from environment to the courts, 10 ways Trump has changed America

As we enter the fourth year of the Trump presidency, here are some of the ways the president has left a deep, and often dangerous, mark on American life

  •  2020 will be an epic year for America – and robust, fact-based reporting is more critical than ever.  https://support.theguardian.com/us/contribute?acquisitionData=%7Bsource%3AGUARDIAN_WEB%2CcomponentType%3AACQUISITIONS_EDITORIAL_LINK%2CcomponentId%3AUSeoy2019_standfirst_7daysofgiving%2CcampaignCode%3AUSeoy2019%2CreferrerPageviewId%3Ak4tqrtih7d6qcunj804h%2CreferrerUrl%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Fwww.theguardian.com%2Fus-news%2F2019%2Fdec%2F31%2Ftrump-2020-impact-report-environment-america%7D&INTCMP=USeoy2019" rel="nofollow - Help us raise $1.5m to fund our journalism in 2020  - naah, don't do that!

More articles to come? That doesn't sound good for Donald the already impeached.Shocked

Dem House counsel alerts judges more Trump articles of impeachment could come: ‘There’s no doubt’

Doug Letter, the lead counsel representing the House in a pair of cases seeking to compel information and testimony relating to former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, told a federal appeals court on Friday that the House is seriously considering impeaching President Donald Trump again, https://www.businessinsider.com/house-of-representatives-more-trump-articles-of-impeachment-2020-1" rel="nofollow - according to Business Insider.

“That is on the table. There’s no doubt,” Letter reportedly told a three-judge appellate panel. He also added that his comments had been approved beforehand by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

According to Business Insider, one of the cases is seeking grand jury material from Mueller’s investigation, and the other is seeking a court order for former White House counsel Don McGahn to testify before the House Judiciary Committee to answer questions about whether Trump obstructed the Russia probe.

https://www.rawstory.com/2-a-week-holiday-season-discount-join-raw-story-investigatessupport-progressive-journalism-and-get-three-ad-free-sites/" rel="nofollow -

The House has already impeached Trump on one article of abuse of power, relating to his efforts to use military aid to extort Ukraine into announcing an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden’s family, and one article of obstruction of Congress, relating to his blanket order to his subordinates to refuse to cooperate with congressional subpoenas.

But there has also been speculation that the House could also impeach Trump for obstruction of justice related to the Mueller probe. The special counsel report detailed ten potential episodes of https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/04/19/muellers-biggest-bombshell-trump-told-white-house-counsel-lie/" rel="nofollow - obstruction of justice , including an incident where Trump unsuccessfully ordered McGahn to fire Mueller, and another where he ordered McGahn to write a memo “for our records,” stating that no such order to fire Mueller had ever been given.

The House decided not to draft articles of impeachment surrounding this incident. But as Letter’s remarks in federal court make clear, once they obtain more evidence surrounding the McGahn matter, that question could be revisited.

I already asked the question in part, but I'll put it here too, because it is appropriate.

Has anyone done the research and worked out what they think would give Trump a bigger bump in the polls;

1. Being Fake Impeached by the Dumbocrats? or

2. Assassinating another Terrorist Leader? or

3. Skelator Pelosi sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate? or

4. Pelosi and Crying Chuck dicking around and NOT sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate?

Embarrassed

Sorry PT, I know they are all WINNERS for The POTUS, and it must be so frustrating for you to see these Dumbass Dems slowly skewering themselves, dying a slow death in front of everyones eyes - I do feel genuinely sorry for you! Unhappy

Welcome back Shammy.Thumbs Up

Did you see today, following on from Lev being allowed to hand over his iphone 11 to Adam Schiff, the judge overseeing his case has given permission for more devices and thousands of pages of documents to also go.

Going by what Lev's lawyer has been tweeting it is no wonder Meadows quit and why Gaetz, Nunes and McCarthy have gone very quiet(probably on lawyer advice) I guess they are the individuals with interactions with Lev directly involved.

Did McCarthy ever give back the Russian cash Lev and Igor gave him? A quarter million was it?
